According to independent journalist Francys Romero, the Astros plan to promote Raynel Delgado from Triple-A Sugar Land prior to Friday’s series opener against the Royals.

The 26-year-old infielder was acquired from the Rays for cash considerations on Wednesday. He has hit .250/.320/.362 with three homers and 24 stolen bases across 61 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll add depth infield depth and speed off the bench for the Astros.

Thursday’s scheduled contest between the Braves and White Sox on Thursday was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up on August 20. Expect Thursday’s scheduled starters — Anthony Kay and Martin Perez — to be pushed back to Saturday or skipped altogether depending on how each club wants to align their rotations going forward.

LAD Starting Pitcher #70

Justin Wrobleski was removed from Thursday’s start against the Pirates after he was hit in the leg by a comebacker in the fifth inning.

Wrobleski then got tangled up with the runner while covering first base on the play. He’ll head for further evaluation to see what’s going on. Before exiting, the 25-year-old southpaw had allowed four runs on six hits and a pair of walks in his 4 2/3 innings. He exits with a lead and one out shy of qualifying for a victory.

TOR Starting Pitcher #57

Shane Bieber (elbow) was terrific in a minor league rehab start at Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, firing six innings of shutout baseball.

Bieber scattered five hits and one walk on the day while striking out four. The 31-year-old hurler threw 62 pitches in the game (46 strikes) while averaging 91.4-mph on his fastball (topping out at 93-mph). It’s unclear if he’ll need another tune-up in the minors before he’s cleared to rejoin what’s suddenly becoming a crowded Jays’ rotation.
Nolan Jones

CWS Right Fielder #22

White Sox acquired OF Nolan Jones and cash considerations from the Guardians for international bonus pool money.

The Guardians will receive $250,000 in international bonus pool money from the Guardians. Jones, 28, has spent the entire season at Triple-A Columbus where he has slashed a healthy .275/.385/.460 with eight homers, 31 RBI and three stolen bases in 226 plate appearances. It may not take long for the former top prospect to get an opportunity with the White Sox.
Carson Seymour

SF Starting Pitcher #77

Giants optioned RHP Carson Seymour to Triple-A Sacramento.

The 27-year-old hurler has made two appearances with the Giants this season, posting an unsightly 14.54 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and a 2/2 K/BB ratio over 4 1/3 innings. He’ll continue to refine his craft in the rotation at the Triple-A level until another need arises. Expect a corresponding move to be made before Friday’s series opener against the Cubs.
Taijuan Walker

Angels re-signed RHP Taijuan Walker to a minor league contract.

The 33-year-old hurler exercised the opt-out clause in his minor league deal with the Angels on Monday, but after exploring the open market he decided that staying with the Angels makes the most sense for him at the moment. He’ll continue to serve as extra rotation depth at Triple-A Salt Lake.
Corey Seager

TEX Shortstop #5

Corey Seager went 2-for-4 and slugged a solo home run on Thursday, propelling the Rangers to a 4-2 victory over the Royals in Kansas City.

Seager smacked a one-out single off of Michael Wacha in the top half of the first and raced around to score the game’s first run on Brandon Nimmo’s RBI double. He then increased that lead to 3-0 as he ambushed the first pitch of the third inning for a 391-foot (100.0-mph EV) solo shot to right. He has been swinging a hot bat since returning from the injured list but is still slashing a woeful .186/.284/.373 on the season with nine long balls and 24 RBI in 204 plate appearances.
Brandon Nimmo

TEX Right Fielder #24

Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI on Thursday as the Rangers bested the Royals in Kansas City.

Nimmo opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI double off of Michael Wacha in the top half of the first, but he was cut down trying to stretch it into a triple. He also led off the sixth inning with a double but was erased on a fielder’s choice. With his two-hit afternoon, the 33-year-old outfielder is now slashing .259/.334/.408 with seven homers, 23 RBI and two stolen bases over 287 plate appearances in his first season with the Rangers.
Jacob Latz

TEX Relief Pitcher #67

Jacob Latz notched his second victory of the season on Thursday, working a pair of scoreless innings against the Royals.

Latz actually came on with a 4-2 lead to protect in the eighth inning and looked poised to earn a six-out save. He was absolutely dominant, retiring all six hitters that he faced in order — three of them on strikeouts — while throwing 14 of his 15 pitches for strikes. It was so good, in fact, that the official scorer awarded him with the victory in the game instead of the save. Latz now holds a brilliant 1.69 ERA and 0.63 WHIP over 32 innings on the season while converting 10 of his first 12 save chances.
