49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings went for additional tests on his shoulder Tuesday and they reportedly did not show any sign of significant damage.
Jennings had an MRI that came back clean on Monday and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that scans on Tuesday also showed that the wideout avoided a serious injury. Jennings is considered day-to-day as a result of the testing and he could play against the Saints in Week 2.
Another update on the wideout’s condition will come when the 49ers release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday.
Jennings had two catches for 16 yards before being forced out of the win over the Seahawks.
Tuesday brought word that Jake Moody will no longer be kicking for the 49ers, and a potential replacement quickly emerged.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Eddy Piñeiro will work out for the team. There’s no word of any other workouts scheduled at the moment.
Piñeiro spent the past three seasons with the Panthers before becoming a free agent in March. He went 80-of-90 on field goals and 80-of-87 on extra points during his time in Carolina.
He also appeared in five games for the Jets in 2021, when current 49ers special teams coordinator Brant Boyer held the same position with New York.
Colton McKivitz may have been smiling in the pictured attached to this item for multiple reasons. One was this — the night before the season-opening game against the Seahawks, he agreed to terms on a new deal with the 49ers.
The 2020 fifth-round pick from West Virginia approached what would have been a contract year with a new contract. We’ve obtained the details, from a source with knowledge of the terms.

McKivitz, 29, became a full-time starter in 2023. He has 63 regular-season appearances, and 40 starts.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged that injured reserve was a possibility for tight end George Kittle.
Now, possibility is becoming reality.
Kittle is being placed on IR on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
Kittle suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s season-opening win over the Seahawks, playing only 21 of the team’s 76 offensive snaps. He finished the game with four catches for 25 yards with a touchdown.
Now in his ninth season, Kittle has made the Pro Bowl in four straight seasons and six of the last seven. He caught 78 passes for 1,106 yards with eight touchdowns.
Kittle will be sidelined for at least four weeks while on IR. The 49ers also have Luke Farrell and Jake Tonges on their 53-man roster at tight end, with Brayden Willis on the practice squad.
After a rough Week 1 outing by Jake Moody, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan stood by his kicker.
Shanahan has now stepped away.
The 49ers are waiving Moody, per multiple reports.
Shanahan’s supposed commitment to Moody, in hindsight, contained a hint of equivocation. “Right now, I have no question,” Shanahan said after the 17-13 win at Seattle. “I’m trying to finish today, get on a plane and evaluate stuff, and go back at it. Ask me every day and I’ll answer how I am right at that moment.”
The 49ers made Moody a third-round pick in 2023. Against the Seahawks, he missed one field goal and had another one blocked.
Here’s the basic reality. With the proliferation of cannon-legged kickers who are consistently cashing in from longer and longer distances, those who miss shorter kicks stand out in a bad way.
If a kicker stands out in a bad way, he’ll be in a bad way. And another kicker will have a chance to come in and do what the other kicker didn’t.
For his San Francisco career, Moody missed 16 of 62 field goals. He’ll now hit waivers and, if he clears, he’ll become a free agent.
