The Giants have claimed cornerback/returner Dee Williams off waivers, Dan Duggan of TheAthletic.com reports.

The Seahawks waived Williams on Thursday.

Williams has returned every punt the Seahawks have returned this season, but the team cut him after he fumbled a kickoff return Sunday. He lost two muffed punts earlier this season.

Seattle replaced him by claiming returner Jaelon Darden off waivers from the Browns.

Williams made the Seahawks’ initial 53-player roster as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee. He has averaged 7.4 yards on 15 punt returns and 28.2 yards on nine kickoff returns this season. He has 21 fair catches on punts.

The Seahawks may not have their top running back when they face the Cardinals on Sunday.

Kenneth Walker (ankle/calf) has been listed as questionable for the contest.

Walker was limited in Wednesday’s practice before he did not participate on Thursday.

In 10 games this year, Walker has recorded 542 yards rushing with seven touchdowns. He’s also caught 38 passes for 271 yards with one TD.

Punter Michael Dickson (back) is also questionable for the game. He was limited in the first two days of practice. The Seahawks did sign punter Ty Zentner to their practice squad as insurance if Dickson isn’t able to play.

Returning from injured reserve, offensive tackle Stone Forsythe (hand) has been ruled out. He was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

Seattle’s kicking operation could look a little different on Sunday, as the Seahawks have added a punter to their practice squad.

Seattle announced on Friday that Ty Zentner has signed with the unit.

The team’s regular punter, Michael Dickson, is dealing with a back injury and has been limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He was not able to finish last week’s victory over the Jets with back spasms.

Zentner has played 10 games for the Texans, Titans, and Rams over the last two years. He downed three punts inside the 20 during Los Angeles’ 26-20 overtime victory over Seattle earlier this season.

As a corresponding move, the Seahawks placed veteran offensive lineman Jason Peters on practice squad IR.

Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu has had a tough 2024, with two separate injuries limiting him to just one game so far this year.

He first suffered an MCL injury in August during Seattle’s preseason game with Cleveland. Then he sustained a quad injury when he returned to action in the Oct. 6 loss to the Giants.

But while Nwosu didn’t criticize the play first play that injured him a couple of months ago, the linebacker had a different take on Thursday upon being activated from injured reserve.

Browns guard Wyatt Teller hit Nwosu’s knee on a cut block, which sprained Nwosu’s MCL. The play was flagged for an illegal chop block. Just a play before, Nwosu had been penalized for roughing the passer.

I thought it was dirty, straight up,” Nwosu said of Teller’s block, via Brady Henderson of ESPN. “I didn’t like it. It’s preseason. We’re going to be in there like two drives, but it’s football. I get it, it’s football at the end of the day, but it was definitely a dirty play.

“I know you’re allowed to cut. … But the way you cut, you can’t do it going back towards your own end zone, and that’s what he did to me, so that’s what made it dirty.”

Nwosu, 27, has struggled with injuries over the last to seasons, appearing in just seven games over the period after recording 9.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 26 quarterback hits for Seattle in 2022. He missed the last 11 games of 2023 with a torn pectoral.

“It’s been tough,” Nwosu said. “I feel like it’s really things that have kind of been out of my control, especially with the knee injury I had. And then one thing leads to another, so who knows. So just kind of just refiguring myself out, just trusting my process and knowing that I know my career is going to be great and I’ll still be the same player I am, and just continue to trust myself.”

The Seahawks downgraded running back Kenneth Walker (ankle/calf) and wide receiver DK Metcalf (shoulder) on Thursday. Both players were limited Wednesday.

Metcalf didn’t practice last Wednesday and Thursday and still played 48 of 64 snaps in the victory over the Jets. For the season, he has 50 receptions for 763 yards and three touchdowns.

It marks the first week Walker has appeared on the report since Week 8 when he had an illness.

He has 145 carries for 542 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

Defensive end Leonard Williams (foot) remained out, and nose tackle Johnathan had a rest day.

Punter Michael Dickson (back) and tight end Brady Russell (foot) again was limited.

Offensive tackle Abraham Lucas (knee) returned to full participation after rehabbing Wednesday.
