PHOENIX, Ariz. – January 27, 2015 – This week’s edition of NFL Turning Point, NBCSN’s Emmy Award-nominated weekly NFL show co-produced by NFL Films, will preview Super Bowl XLIX and feature in-depth analysis of the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks as the teams prepare for the big game on Sunday, Feb. 1 on NBC.

Hosted by Football Night In America’s Dan Patrick, this week’s penultimate episode airs Thursday, Jan. 29 at 1:30 a.m. ET. The season finale of Turning Point will air on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 11 p.m. ET, and will review Super Bowl XLIX.

Following are highlights from this week’s episode, previewing the Patriots-Seahawks Super Bowl matchup:



  • Patriots’ Offense: NFL Turning Point analyzes how QB Tom Brady directs an up-tempo attack to keep opposing defenses off-guard, and highlights how TE Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots’ receiving corps present a difficult matchup.



  • “Legion of Boom”: The program revisits the Patriots-Seahawks matchup from October of 2012, where the defensive moniker, “Legion of Boom,” originated. The segment will fast-forward to the 2014 campaign, and examine how the return of LB Bobby Wagner helped the defense return to form in the second half of the season.



  • Belichick and Carroll: NFL Films presents the similarities and differences between Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, and analyzes their starkly different coaching styles.



  • Seahawks Offense: The segment shines a light on RB Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks offense, including Lynch’s memorable 79-yard rumble through Cardinals’ defenders in Week 16 on Sunday Night Football. In addition, Turning Point looks at the development of WRs Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse.



  • Patriots Defense: Turning Point examines how the offseason acquisitions of CBs Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner have stabilized the New England defense, and provided a shutdown performance in the AFC Championship Game to help propel the Patriots to the Super Bowl.



  • Russell Wilson Sound: The final segment of the episode reviews highlights and in-game audio from QB Russell Wilson throughout the season. Turning Point will start with Seattle’s difficult start to the season, and bring viewers through the Seahawks’ dramatic win in the NFC Championship game

Each week Emmy-nominated NFL Turning Point is built around select NFL matchups from the previous weekend, and focuses on the crucial “turning point” moments that ultimately defined the outcome of each game.
