Report: Raheem Sterling will sign new, five-year Liverpool contract this month

It’s January, which means transfer rumors regarding some of the world’s best players are all the rage right now. One name that isn’t likely to be attached to a transfer away from his current club is Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling.

That’s because, according to multiple reports Saturday night, Sterling is set to sign a brand new, five-year contract that will pay the 20-year old attacker between £100,000 and £120,000 per week. The deal is widely expected to be completed and signed by the end of January, committing Sterling’s future to Liverpool — financially, at least — until 2020.

Sterling reportedly rejected Liverpool’s first offer, thought to be £70,000 per week, earlier this season. The new deal will reportedly also be full of incentives — assumedly rewarding Sterling for hitting appearance and goal milestones, as well as a number of individual player honors — as was the case with Daniel Sturridge’s recently-signed new deal.

Sterling has scored eight goals and assisted on five others in all competitions for Liverpool at the halfway point of the 2014-15 season.
