Everton lead Arsenal 2-0 at half time at Goodison Park after some sloppy defending from the Gunners shot themselves in the foot.

Seamus Coleman’s 19th minute header is the difference as the Irish right back lost his marker at the back post and finished superbly to put Everton 1-0 up. Steven Naismith then slotted home, but looked to be offside, just before the break following a surging run from Romelu Lukaku. Everton were 2-0 ahead.

A short free kick from Leighton Baines found Gareth Barry and the midfielder clipped a delicate ball towards the back post which Coleman headed in unmarked. Mesut Ozil didn’t track Coleman and Calum Chambers dropped deep to keep Coleman and Romelu Lukaku onside as the Gunners defended sloppily at Goodison.

Arsenal have struggled to get going after going behind, as Arsene Wenger’s side have failed to carve out any clear cut chances.

Then right on half time Lukaku surged ahead, played in Naismith who seemed to be in an offside position but the Scotsman slotted home to make it 2-0 and give Everton a commanding lead.

Will the Gunners come unstuck against the Toffees? Can Roberto Martinez’s men extend their lead?
