Red Sox recalled LHP Chris Murphy from Triple-A Worcester.

Murphy is able to be recalled just two days after being demoted to the minors because Brennan Bernardino was placed on the 15-day injured list with a strained lat. Murphy will likely be a middle-inning option while he’s with Boston.

Mets optioned RHP Xzavion Curry to Triple-A Syracuse.

The 28-year-old right-hander has done a nice job in seven appearances with the Mets this season, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 10/7 K/BB ratio across 16 innings. He should get another chance with the big league club before the summer is through.

Red Sox selected the contract of RHP Seth Martinez from Triple-A Worcester.

The 31-year-old hurler will get his first opportunity with the Red Sox after posting a 5.55 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 49/17 K/BB ratio over 60 innings in 33 appearances at Triple-A Worcester. It’s likely that he’ll be asked to work a couple of innings during Sunday’s bullpen game against the Athletics.

Red Sox optioned LHP Raymond Burgos to Triple-A Worcester.

Burgos worked the final three innings against the Athletics on Friday night to pick up his first career save. He wasn’t going to be available for a few days though, so the Red Sox wanted to add a fresh arm to their bullpen for Sunday’s bullpen game against the A’s, which unfortunately costs Burgos his spot on the roster for the time being. Seth Martinez was promoted from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move on Sunday.

Caleb Durbin is absent from the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Athletics.

Like most hitters in the Red Sox’ lineup, Durbin has been sizzling of late, slashing .367/.448/.510 with a homer, 10 RBI and three stolen bases in 60 plate appearances over his last 13 contests. Anthony Seigler will start in his place at third base and will bat sixth for the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon in Boston.

Wilyer Abreu (leg) returned to the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Athletics.

Abreu was a late scratch from Saturday’s lineup due to a leg contusion that he sustained when fouling a pitch off of his shin during Friday’s game. He’s serving as the designated hitter and will bat third against Athletics’ right-hander JT Ginn on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.

Brady House is not in the Nationals’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Reds.

While it’s not a clear platoon situation, this is the fourth time that House has found himself on the bench in seven games for the week. He started against both southpaws and only one of four right-handers, with Jorbit Vivas drawing the rest of the starts at the hot corner. That means you shouldn’t be relying on House in weekly leagues unless there are a plethora of left-handers on the docket.

Nationals optioned LHP Carson Palmquist to Triple-A Rochester.

The 25-year-old southpaw has been knocked around in 11 appearances with the Nationals this season, posting an uninspiring 7.71 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and a 15/8 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings. Jake Bird was recalled from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move to take his spot in the Nats’ bullpen.

Nationals recalled RHP Jake Bird from Triple-A Rochester.

The 30-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Yankees at the trade deadline. He has struggled for the majority of the 2026 campaign, registering a 5.93 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and a 31/11 K/BB ratio across 30 1/3 innings of work. He’ll function in a middle relief role.
