Kodai Senga pitched 5 2/3 innings of two-run baseball with seven strikeouts versus the Giants on Sunday while not factoring into the decision.
Senga blanked the Giants over the first five innings, and then gave up a pair in the sixth to turn a dominant outing into a solid one. The 33-year-old generated a solid 12 swings and misses before leaving, and he allowed five hits and a pair of walks. Senga has looked the part in his first two starts, and he’ll get the A’s next Sunday.

Brewers activated OF Jackson Chourio from the 10-day injured list.
Chourio will make his long-awaited season debut on Monday evening against the Cardinals after missing nearly six weeks to open the year recovering from a fractured hand. The 22-year-old fantasy superstar is ready to roll following an injury scare when he fouled a ball off his foot during his final minor league rehab contest over the weekend. He’ll provide a much-needed lift for Milwaukee, and fantasy managers as well, after recording back-to-back 20-homer, 20-steal campaigns to kick off his career.
Marlins call up top prospect Mack
Eric Samulski unpacks the news of the Marlins calling up their top hitting prospect in catcher Joe Mack and explains why he's more of a two-catcher league target early on.
  • MIL 1st Baseman #28
Brewers activated 1B Andrew Vaughn from the 10-day injured list.
Vaughn’s return figures to cut into playing time for both Jake Bauers and Gary Sánchez as he makes it back following a five-week absence recovering from surgery to repair a hamate fracture in his left wrist. He’s shown enough over-the-fence power to warrant a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues since arriving in Milwaukee last year as a reclamation project.
  • MIL Left Fielder #16
Brewers optioned OF Blake Perkins to Triple-A Nashville.
Perkins gets caught up in a roster crunch with both Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn returning from the injured list. The 29-year-old reserve outfielder winds up losing his roster spot with Brandon Lockridge occupying a bench spot behind Chourio, Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick.
  • MIL Right Fielder #30
Brewers designated OF Greg Jones for assignment.
Jones has been removed from Milwaukee’s roster to make room for superstar Jackson Chourio to return from the injured list. The 28-year-old went 2-for-21 in 11 games with the Brewers since April 14.
  • NYY 1st Baseman #22
Ben Rice (hand) is not in the starting lineup for the Yankees on Monday against the Orioles.
Rice was hit in the hand on Sunday while trying to field a pickoff throw from Max Fried. The Yankees don’t seem concerned about the injury long-term, but he will at least get Monday off. Paul Goldschmidt is starting at first base and batting sixth in this one.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #66
Tigers manager AJ Hinch said that Sawyer Gipson-Long is “not 100 percent” and is shut down from throwing.
As of now, we don’t yet know what injury Gipson-Long is dealing with, but he was removed from his start on Friday and is now sidelined indefinitely. With both Casey Mize (adductor) and Tarik Skubal (elbow) on the IL, Gipson-Long would have been the next man up, but this Tigers rotation is in a brutal spot with injuries right now.
  • TB 1st Baseman #2
Yandy Díaz (oblique) is batting fourth and DHing against the Blue Jays on Monday.
Díaz had missed two straight games with an oblique injury, but he’s back in there on Monday, so it seems we’ve avoided the worst for now. He can be fired up with confidence this week.
  • STL Left Fielder #25
Cardinals optioned INF/OF Thomas Saggese to Triple-A Memphis
It’s been a rough start to the season for Saggese, who is slashing .170/.228/.208 with a 33 percent strikeout rate in 57 plate appearances. He has solid minor league numbers, but he now owns a .239/.283/.318 slash line in 404 MLB plate appearances, which is not promising.
  • STL 2nd Baseman #31
Cardinals recalled 2B César Prieto from Triple-A Memphis
Prieto is hitting .311/.357/.566 in 28 Triple-A games with six home runs and 19 runs scored. He has just a 90 mph average exit velocity and 40 percent hard-hit rate, so the underlying metrics aren’t supporting that level of slugging, especially with a 57 percent groundball rate. The 27-year-old will most likely just be a bench bat for now.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #78
Reds optioned RHP Zach Maxwell to Triple-A Louisville
The Reds needed an extra starter this week, so Maxwell will head back to the minors after allowing four runs on three hits in his one MLB inning this season.
