Kirk Cousins completed 22-of-33 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders’ 35-27, Week 3 win over the Saints.

Cousins had a few off-target passes in this one, but he certainly loves having Brock Bowers in the lineup. The duo linked up 10 times on the day, which opened things up for the rest of the offense as the game progressed. Coach Klint Kubiak sent Bowers in motion inside the green zone on a play-action play seemingly designed for Michael Mayer, who got open with ease on a short out route and hauled in the score. Cousins fumbled while being hit late in the game, but a teammate recovered, preserving his turnover-free outing. He warrants borderline QB1/2 treatment against the Chiefs next week.
Henry, Huntley, Hamilton and Hill recap win
Derrick Henry, Tyler Huntley, Kyle Hamilton and Justice Hill break down the Baltimore Ravens' overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons, a game that saw the team rally late on the road.

Cousins didn’t play poorly, but didn’t do much beyond connecting with Brock Bowers for some long gains in the first half, before the Patriots avalanched the severely overmatched Raiders in the third quarter. Cousins was sacked three times while narrowly avoiding a few other big losses, as the Vegas offensive line struggled to protect him throughout. His muted showing comes after 11 touchdown tosses over the season’s first four games in Klint Kubiak’s offense. Cousins will look to bounce back in Week 6 against the Bills in what should be a high-scoring affair.

Cousins and the Raiders did everything they could to remain undefeated, but came up just short in a game that came down to the wire against their division rivals. Cousins led the Raiders right down the field on their opening drive and capped it with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Ian Thomas, who was wide open for an easy score. After leading multiple drives that ended in field goals, Cousins came up big for the Raiders in the fourth quarter when he avoided a sack in the pocket and stepped up to find Brock Bowers in the back of the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown. A successful two-point conversion play to Cody White cut the Chiefs’ lead to 30-27, but with the Raiders driving in the final seconds of regulation, Cousins would throw the game-ending interception to hand the Chiefs their fourth-straight win of the season. Cousins and the Raiders proved to be legit in this one, as they went blow-for-blow with the Chiefs to the very end. Now sitting with a 3-1 record, the Raiders will look to rebound in Week 5 against the Patriots. Cousins has thrown multiple touchdowns in every game this season and has now thrown for 11 TDs to four INTs. He’ll be in the mix as a strong QB2 next week.

Cousins was intercepted on the Raiders’ opening drive of the game, but no one was necessarily at fault. Cousins threw a well-timed ball to Tre Tucker on an in-breaking route and the speedy receiver slipped while cutting, leaving the pass to sail into enemy hands. The veteran passer needed a few more drives to get in rhythm but eventually began to pick apart the LA defense. He completed four passes of 20+ yards, something he managed just once in Week 1. Cousins remains more of a ball distributor than anything else, but he has looked good in that role through two weeks. There are worse Superflex options for Week 3 when Cousins takes on the Saints.

The Raiders’ first punt occurred with just over 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Cousins was only asked to manage this game, and he did so moderately effectively. Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty scored two of Cousins’ passing touchdowns on catch-and-run plays via routes out of the backfield. Cousins deserves credit for hitting WR Jack Bech in stride on a 15-yard score, but he also deserves blame for both interceptions. One was an overthrow; the other was late. Cousins is a QB2 next week against the Chargers.

With input from Tom Brady, head coach Klint Kubiak will put the 38-year-old Cousins under center for the season opener against the Dolphins. Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, will serve as Cousins’ backup. How long this arrangement will last is anyone’s guess. A good start to the regular season could delay Mendoza’s first NFL start for a couple months but he’s almost certain to take over as the Vegas starter at some point in 2026. Mendoza should be stashed in most superflex formats and Cousins profiles as a decent QB2 in such formats for Week 1.

An NFL head coach consulting with an NFL announcer on who his team should start under center is a brave new world for the league. It looks like the Raiders are set on Kirk Cousins to start Week 1 against the Dolphins after Fernando Mendoza’s spotty preseason play and struggles in training camp. Look for Cousins to target his short-area pass catchers relentlessly, like he did last year in Atlanta. It won’t be long before Mendoza gets a shot at starting duties. He should be rostered in most superflex leagues.

Appearing on NFL Live Friday afternoon, Fowler said that people inside the Raiders’ building and around the league still expect Cousins to be named the starter. Raiders HC Klint Kubiak declined to name a starting quarterback Friday morning. Following the loss of Thursday’s preseason game against the 49ers, Kubiak said rookie Fernando Mendoza needs another three preseason games before going as far as mentioning that Mendoza’s practice reps will decline once the regular season begins. While Kubiak continues to drag his feet when it comes to the official announcement, all signs still point to Cousins being named the starter at some point eventually.

That’s three straight weeks that Kubiak has declined to name his Week 1 starter despite the widely held belief that it will be Kirk Cousins getting the start in Week 1 against the Dolphins. Cousins has received the majority of first-team reps throughout the offseason and limited action in the preseason, while Fernando Mendoza has worked mostly with backups and played extensively in every preseason game. We’ll see just how long Kubiak is willing to stretch this decision out, but it would come as a surprise to almost everyone if Mendoza got the nod over Cousins in Week 1.

Raiders coach Klint Kubiak declined to name a starting quarterback last week (and again this evening), but Cousins certainly received starter treatment this evening. He played two series, along with the Raiders’ other starters, before being subbed out for QB Fernando Mendoza. The rookie quarterback is playing well. He shares fault with WR Jalen Nailor for the interception. The throw was late, and Nailor tipped it to a 49ers defender. The 49ers’ pass rush also got home a few times against Mendoza as well. Cousins looks like the early-season starter at this time, but stashing Mendoza on benches in superflex leagues could eventually pay off.

Kirk Cousins didn’t play a snap in Thursday night’s game, but despite the decision not to dress his veteran QB, Kubiak opted not to commit to a starter just yet. Rookie Fernando Mendoza played the entire first half of yesterday’s game, completing 8-of-15 passes for 86 yards, with one of his incompletions resulting in an 80-yard pick-six. It’s long been believed that the Raiders’ plan entering this season was to go with Cousins as the starter before eventually making the move to Mendoza later in the year. While that may still end up being how things unfold, Kubiak’s decision not to name a starter on a night when several starters sat has raised questions ahead of the team’s third and final preseason game next week against the 49ers.

Mark Andrews caught 4-of-6 targets for 28 yards in the Ravens’ Week 5 win over the Falcons.

Andrews dropped a would-be touchdown on the team’s opening possession on a ball that went through his hands in the end zone. He would then fumble on the following possession, which Jessie Bates returned for a touchdown to force the Ravens into catch-up mode for the remainder of the game. Luckily for him, late heroics from Tyler Huntley and Derrick Henry had the team escaping with a victory. Andrews has not looked great to start the 2026 season, having not eclipsed 50 yards through five games. He’ll remain a shaky fantasy start in Week 6 when the Ravens host the Browns.

Zay Flowers caught 8-of-9 targets for 53 yards in the Ravens’ Week 5 win over the Falcons, adding 13 yards on one carry.

Flowers was largely confined to short area work with Tyler Huntley under center and also saw a 26-yard reception erased from his ledger due to a 29-yard pass interference penalty on the play. It was a weird situation in which the penalty yardage was greater than his reception. Fantasy managers might be forced to continue waiting on the return of Lamar Jackson after it was reported this week that the All Pro starter could be forced to miss another week. Flowers is a locked-in WR2 against the Browns in Week 6 with Huntley under center and an elite WR1 should Jackson return.

Rashod Bateman caught 5-of-6 targets for 62 yards in the Ravens’ Week 5 win over the Falcons.

Bateman had a relatively quiet game until notching 38 yards on three receptions on the team’s final possession of regulation, helping to spur an improbable comeback victory in overtime. The team took the ball with just over two minutes remaining down by eight, eventually driving the field and tacking on a two-point conversion to send the game to extra time. Bateman remains a shaky FLEX option for as long as Zay Flowers remains healthy, which doesn’t change ahead of a Week 6 meeting with the Browns.

Derrick Henry rushed 24 times for 102 yards in the Ravens’ Week 5 win over the Falcons, adding 18 yards and a touchdown on one reception.

Henry also tacked on a successful two-point conversion to further pad his counting stats. The King erupted for 59 yards in the first half before being largely held in check for the final two quarters with the Ravens playing from behind. He would watch from the sidelines for the duration of the team’s final possession in the two-minute drill but came on the field to tie the game with a two-point conversion on a direct snap. The Falcons were no match for Henry in the extra frame, with the bruising back tacking on an additional 32 yards on the ground on the team’s lone overtime possession. Henry continues to turn back the clock while notching his eighth touchdown in five appearances, having scored in every game to start the season. He remains an elite RB1 ahead of a Week 6 meeting with the Browns.

Tyler Huntley completed 24-of-32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens’ 30-23, Week 5 win over the Falcons, adding 20 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

Huntley was in command of the offense throughout, showing poise and pocket presence in the face of one of the most stout defensive fronts in the league. The Ravens marched the field on the opening possession but a dropped touchdown from tight end Mark Andrews forced them to settle for a field goal. Their next possession resulted in a Mark Andrews fumble that was returned for a touchdown, forcing the Ravens to play from behind for the remainder of the game. Down by eight with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Huntley took the ball and led the team to a touchdown and successful two-point conversion to force overtime. He would then lead an opening possession touchdown drive in the extra frame, with the team escaping with an unlikely comeback victory on a game-sealing interception. Huntley could be tasked with another start in Week 6 against the Browns after late-week reports indicated that Lamar Jackson could be headed for another absence. Huntley will be a middling QB2, should he start.

Kyle Pitts caught 5-of-6 targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ Week 5 loss to the Ravens.

Pitts remained largely confined to short area work with his game-long reception going for only 13 yards. A second quarter touchdown from five yards out gave the veteran tight end his first trip to paint through five games and his five receptions doubled that of his previous four appearances. Pitts remains a difficult weekly start for as long as Drake London and Bijan Robinson remain healthy, which doesn’t change ahead of a Week 6 meeting with the Bears in Atlanta.

Jahan Dotson caught 2-of-4 targets for 54 yards in the Falcons’ Week 5 loss to the Ravens.

Dotson’s 54 yards finished second on the team behind alpha Drake London but his four targets finished behind London, Kyle Pitts, and Bijan Robinson. His status as the starting wide receiver opposite London likely means little in the wake of modest volume games that continue to stack up. He can safely be left on, or returned to, the waiver wire.

Drake London caught 7-of-11 targets for 118 yards in the Falcons’ Week 5 loss to the Ravens.

London started slow along with the rest of an Atlanta offense that gained just 37 total yards on their first three possessions before a 78-yard scoring drive to end the half. He would add six receptions after the break to push his season average to 127 yards per game in games started by Michael Penix. Penix departed late in the fourth quarter with a ribs injury, suddenly making London’s fantasy managers skittish after the veteran receiver managed a meager 80 total yards in two games without Penix to begin the season. Fantasy managers will want to monitor Atlanta’s starting quarterback’s status in the coming days ahead of a Week 6 meeting with the Bears, where London will be a WR1 with Penix or an upside WR3 in his absence.

Bijan Robinson rushed 17 times for 86 yards in the Falcons’ Week 5 loss to the Ravens, adding 32 yards on four receptions.

Robinson suffered through poor offensive efficiency in the first half, finally breaking loose for a 38-yard carry on the team’s first possession of the third quarter. Although the receiving production and yardage total were enough to salvage a usable fantasy week, it was only the second time in five games in which Robinson failed to find the end zone. Robinson remains an elite fantasy RB1 ahead of a Week 6 showdown against the Bears in Atlanta.

Tua Tagovailoa completed 2-of-3 passes for 34 yards and an interception in the Falcons’ 30-23, Week 5 loss to the Ravens.

Tagovailoa came on in relief of the injured Michael Penix late in the fourth quarter and would be charged with leading the Falcons to a potential game-tying drive in overtime after the Ravens took the ball and scored a touchdown to start the extra period. He completed one pass at the end of the fourth quarter, one in overtime, and then threw a game-ending interception to send the Falcons to a 2-3 record ahead of a Week 6 meeting with the Bears. Fantasy managers of Penix will want to track his status closely in the coming days.
