Thomas Bryant (calf) is out for Monday’s Game 2 against the Raptors.
Bryant remains out with a strained left calf, with Monday’s game being the sixth that he has missed. His continued absence won’t have a significant impact on the Cavaliers’ frontcourt rotation, as all of the key contributors are healthy.
Max Strus
CLE
Guard-Forward
#2
Max Strus had 24 points (8-of-10 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), three rebounds and four three-pointers in Saturday’s Game 1 victory over the Raptors.
Strus came off the bench and had 24 points on 10 attempts from the field and four three-pointers. The 30-year-old shooting guard was +8 in 24 minutes off the bench. Strus is known for performances like this in the playoffs going back to his days with the Miami Heat.
James Harden
CLE
Guard
#1
James Harden had 22 points (8-of-17 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), two rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and four three-pointers in Saturday’s Game 1 victory over the Raptors.
Harden stepped up big time in his Cavaliers playoff debut. The 36-year-old point guard had 22 points on 17 attempts from the field and four three-pointers. Harden also dished out 10 assists, earning a double-double. He and Donovan Mitchell showed in Game 1 that this series could be over quickly if the Raptors defense doesn’t step up in the next game.
Donovan Mitchell
CLE
Guard
#45
Donovan Mitchell had 32 points (11-of-20 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), three rebounds, four assists, two steals and four three-pointers in the Cavaliers’ 126-113 Game 1 victory over the Raptors on Saturday.
Mitchell has now scored at least 30 points in nine consecutive Game 1s in his career, which is an NBA record. The 29-year-old shooting guard is no stranger to the playoffs, having made it in every season of his career so far. Mitchell was excellent Saturday and he’ll need to keep it up if he wants to advance to the conference finals for the first time in his career.
Thomas Bryant
CLE
Center-Forward
#3
Thomas Bryant (calf) is out for Saturday’s Game 1 against the Raptors.
Bryant missed Cleveland’s final four regular-season games with a strained left calf, and the injury will keep him out for Saturday’s series opener as well. With Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley available, Bryant’s minutes were going to be limited if he were healthy enough to play.
Tyrese Proctor
CLE
Guard
#24
Tyrese Proctor recorded 22 points (9-of-16 FGs), 11 rebounds, eight assists, one steal and four three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Wizards.
While Proctor did record seven turnovers on Sunday, the rookie guard recorded his first double-double and finished two assists shy of a triple-double. Proctor logged a season-high 35 minutes on Sunday, taking on a role that does not align with what he’ll be asked to do during the playoffs. Unless there are injuries at the point guard position, Proctor is unlikely to crack the rotation.
Jaylon Tyson
CLE
Guard-Forward
#20
Jaylon Tyson recorded 18 points (6-of-16 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), six rebounds, three assists, one steal and three three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Wizards.
In his second game back from a toe injury, Tyson played 26 minutes on Sunday. The role he enjoyed against the Wizards is unlikely to match what he’ll be asked to do in Cleveland’s first-round series against Toronto, but the second-year wing has shown that he’s a capable contributor. The future appears to be bright for Tyson in Cleveland.
Nae'Qwan Tomlin
CLE
Forward
#35
Nae’Qwan Tomlin accounted for 26 points (9-of-16 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), eight rebounds, five assists and four three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Wizards.
With the Cavaliers resting most of their regulars, players like Tomlin were able to log extended minutes in Sunday’s regular-season finale. The second-year forward made the most of his opportunity, recording a career-high point total and surpassing the 20-point mark for the second time. Tomlin did not record any defensive stats, but the offensive production was excellent for those in active fantasy leagues. He’ll take on his usual reserve role during the playoffs and is not guaranteed consistent rotation minutes.
Craig Porter
CLE
Guard
#9
Craig Porter Jr., Max Strus, Jaylon Tyson, Nae’Qwan Tomlin and Larry Nance Jr. will start Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
The Cavaliers are locked into the No. 4 seed regardless of the outcome of Sunday’s games, so most of their key contributors won’t play. The exception is Strus, and given the time he missed after undergoing offseason foot surgery, managers in active fantasy leagues should not expect to see him on the court for too long. The other four starters should play significant minutes, although Tyson only recently returned from an injury.
Keon Ellis
CLE
Guard
#14
Keon Ellis (knee), Dennis Schröder and Thomas Bryant (calf) are out for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
While Ellis and Schröder were active for Friday’s loss to the Hawks, Bryant has missed Cleveland’s last three games with a strained calf. On the perimeter, Craig Porter Jr. and Tyrese Proctor should play significant minutes, while Olivier Sarr and Tristan Enaruna should pick up rotation minutes in the frontcourt.
