ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports that the Lakers are being sold to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a record $12.5 billion.

Less than one year after Mark Walter purchased a controlling share of the Lakers from the Buss family for $10 billion, the storied franchise is on the verge of changing hands again. Kushner and Iger were initially involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas, so it remains to be seen what Wednesday’s news means for that bid (and, by extension, a possible expansion team in Seattle). The transaction still requires league approval to go through, and if it does, Kushner will have to give up his minority share of the Miami Heat.

Jalen Brunson and the Knicks will host Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs on Christmas Day.

Per usual, the NBA will have its brightest stars playing on Christmas Day. The NBA Finals rematch will start the day at 12 p.m. ET and will be followed by Heat-Celtics, 76ers-Lakers, Thunder-Timberwolves and Nuggets-Warriors. Aside from the team and player rivalries that will add to the drama, this will also be LeBron James’ return to Los Angeles after spending the last eight seasons as a Laker.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Lakers signed Arthur Kaluma to a two-way contract.

Kaluma spent his first professional season with the Lakers’ G League affiliate after going undrafted in the 2025 draft. A solid season with South Bay was followed by a good showing this summer with the Lakers’ summer league team, which led to Monday’s transaction. Kaluma’s addition to the roster won’t affect fantasy basketball, but the two-way deal gives him a little more security as training camp approaches. The Lakers already had three players on two-way deals, so Kaluma’s addition will come at the expense of Chris Mañon, AK Okereke or Peter Suder.
Matisse Thybulle

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Matisse Thybulle has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

Thybulle brings much-needed depth to the new-look Lakers, and the three-and-D specialist should see meaningful minutes for LA. Over the last two seasons, he’s averaged 2.1 steals and shot 41.1% from beyond the arc.

Adou Thiero amassed 18 points (6-of-6 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and one blocked shot in Saturday’s loss to the Warriors.

Thiero capped his summer with a perfect shooting performance, as he did not miss a shot from the field or the foul line on Saturday. Add in the rebounds, and he finished with his second double-double in Las Vegas. While the Lakers did make multiple frontcourt signings this summer, there is still a need for Thiero’s athleticism. He isn’t a player who must be selected in drafts, but it would be unsurprising if Thiero found a role within JJ Redick’s rotation.

Cameron Carr recorded 17 points (5-of-16 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), three rebounds, one assist and one three-pointer in Saturday’s loss to the Warriors.

Carr and the Lakers fell short in their quest to reach Sunday’s Summer League title game, losing to the Warriors, 92-88. The rookie had a tough day from outside the arc, making just one of his eight attempts. However, Carr was still able to put up 17 points, and his overall summer performance was excellent. While the Lakers did load up on players in free agency, Carr has the tools needed to be an effective 3-and-D wing immediately. And there’s a lot to like about his long-term ceiling as well.

Cameron Carr tallied 14 points (5-of-12 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds and one steal in Thursday’s win over the Bulls.

Chicago’s Caleb Wilson had the better individual game, but Carr was part of the team that won Thursday’s matchup by a 105-82 final score. The 24th overall pick in last month’s draft has looked ready to contribute immediately for the Lakers, and there is never not a need for capable 3-and-D wings in today’s NBA. With the Lakers now 4-0 and headed to the semifinals, it’s unlikely that Carr gets shut down for Saturday’s game. If they get to the final on Sunday, good luck getting him to sit down.
Chris Mañon

Chris Mañon finished Tuesday’s win over the Clippers with 17 points (5-of-14 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two three-pointers.

While Cameron Carr and Adou Thiero (13/6/3/1/1) have been the stars for the Lakers in Las Vegas, Mañon’s production has improved with each game. The two-way contract forward posted his first double-double of the summer on Tuesday and also recorded two steals. Mañon is already on a two-way contract, and his opportunities next season may be limited given the Lakers’ overall roster. As a result, there isn’t much to expect from him in fantasy basketball for the foreseeable future.

Cameron Carr amassed 23 points (8-of-18 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), one rebound, two assists, one block and three three-pointers in Tuesday’s win over the Clippers.

Despite a right thumb injury, Carr led the way offensively as the Lakers moved to 3-0 in Las Vegas. His eight-point flurry to end the third quarter blew open Tuesday’s “Battle of Los Angeles,” and the rookie wing has been consistent on both ends of the floor. Even with the additions the Lakers made to their roster this offseason, Carr looks like a player who can have an immediate impact under head coach JJ Redick. Fantasy managers should definitely keep an eye on him during the preseason and for the rest of summer league.
Ziaire Williams

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Lakers signed Ziaire Williams to a one-year, $3 million contract.

Despite averaging a career-high 10.2 points per game last season, Williams’ contract option was not picked up by the Nets. He will now join a Lakers roster that harbors ambitions of contending in the West, even with the LeBron James era ending. While he posted solid numbers over his two seasons in Brooklyn, Williams was still not reliable enough to be trusted in most fantasy leagues. That’s likely to remain the case in Los Angeles.
