Report: Lakers ink Arthur Kaluma to two-way deal

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Lakers signed Arthur Kaluma to a two-way contract.

Kaluma spent his first professional season with the Lakers’ G League affiliate after going undrafted in the 2025 draft. A solid season with South Bay was followed by a good showing this summer with the Lakers’ summer league team, which led to Monday’s transaction. Kaluma’s addition to the roster won’t affect fantasy basketball, but the two-way deal gives him a little more security as training camp approaches. The Lakers already had three players on two-way deals, so Kaluma’s addition will come at the expense of Chris Mañon, AK Okereke or Peter Suder.

Not selected in the 2025 draft, Kaluma spent all of last season with the Lakers’ G League affiliate. While there’s certainly familiarity between the player and the franchise, few expected the show Kaluma put on Saturday night. He shot 6-of-10 from beyond the arc and 5-of-6 from two, torching the Mavericks for 34 points. The Lakers have already allocated their three two-way contract slots, so Kaluma may be competing for an Exhibit 10 deal, which would guarantee him a training camp invite.

HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports that the Hawks signed Jalen Wilson to a two-way contract.

The 51st overall pick in the 2023 draft, Wilson spent three seasons in Brooklyn before becoming a free agent this summer. The 6-foot-6 wing appeared in 55 games in 2025-26, averaging 6.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 15.9 minutes. Wilson fills Atlanta’s third two-way contract slot, joining Keshon Gilbert and RayJ Dennis. He is unlikely to get the minutes needed to affect fantasy basketball, especially after the Hawks acquired Luguentz Dort from Oklahoma City.

Mavericks signed Jett Howard to a two-way contract.

Not long after the Mavericks waived forward Tyler Smith, opening up a two-way contract slot, the franchise filled the vacancy by signing Howard. The 11th overall pick in the 2023 draft, Howard failed to earn consistent rotation minutes in his three seasons with the Magic. He appeared in 55 games last season, averaging 5.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in 12.6 minutes. Howard shot the ball reasonably well from beyond the arc, making 37.2 percent of his attempts. He joins John Poulakidis and Tobi Lawal as two-way contract players on the Mavericks roster.

The 54th overall pick in the 2025 draft, Peter was on a two-way deal with the Pacers as a rookie. Indiana’s many injuries factored into the guard appearing in 38 games, and he averaged 4.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 12.9 minutes. Monday’s transaction will free up a two-way slot for the Pacers, who now have Ethan Thompson and Kobe Brown signed to such deals.

The 6-foot-9 forward played 12 games for the Mavericks last season, averaging 4.7 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.8 minutes. Smith’s exit frees up a two-way contract slot for the Mavericks, who currently have John Poulakidis and Tobi Lawal under such contracts.

He struggled inside the arc but was lethal from beyond it, draining all five of his three-point attempts before finishing tied for a team-high 19 points. The second-year guard also fared well on the glass and as a facilitator in the loss. If he can increase his three-point efficiency and take a step forward as a passer, he should be in for a good sophomore season as it pertains to fantasy basketball.
