Landry Shamet (knee) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans.
Shamet, who exited Friday’s win over the Nets after banging knees with an opposing player, will miss a second consecutive game. Josh Hart (knee) returned to the lineup on Sunday and is off the injury report; he’ll take on his usual starting duties. Mohamed Diawara should once again absorb most of the minutes that would normally go to Shamet.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart (knee) amassed 16 points (5-of-9 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, four assists, two steals and three three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Wizards.
After sitting out Friday’s win over the Nets, Hart played 28 minutes in his return to the lineup on Sunday. The Knicks’ 32-point win helped keep his playing time down, but just as important has been Hart’s improved shooting. Making all three of his three-point attempts against the Wizards, he is 9-of-9 over his last three appearances. Even with the Knicks limited to three games in Week 22, Hart’s three-point shooting is a huge development for category league managers.
Jalen Brunson
NYK
Guard
#11
Jalen Brunson notched 23 points (9-of-19 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), four assists, one steal and two three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Wizards.
Limited to 17 points on 7-of-19 shooting in Friday’s win over the Nets, Brunson was better against the Wizards. The overall stat line was a bit lean, with the four assists being the fewest in a game for him since February 27. However, the Knicks kept Brunson on the bench for most of the fourth quarter, giving their star guard a little more rest. The Knicks return to action on Tuesday against the Pelicans.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns finished Sunday’s win over the Wizards with 26 points (9-of-13 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), 16 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one three-pointer.
After a disappointing performance in Friday’s win over the Nets, with Towns being one of the few positives, the Knicks were far more focused on Sunday. And KAT had another good night, finishing with his second straight game of at least 25 points and 15 rebounds. Since the All-Star break, Towns has provided first-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. The Knicks play three games in Week 22, starting with the Hornets on Tuesday.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart (knee) is available for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Hart is good to go after sitting out Friday’s win over the Nets. He’ll return to his usual role in the Knicks’ starting lineup. With Landry Shamet (knee) out, Mohamed Diawara will likely be the first wing off the bench.
Landry Shamet
NYK
Guard
#44
Landry Shamet (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Shamet exited Friday’s win over the Nets after 22 minutes due to soreness in his right knee, and he will sit out Sunday’s game as well. If Josh Hart (knee) is available, he’ll reclaim his usual spot in the starting lineup. If not, Mohamed Diawara may be asked to fill the void.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart (knee) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Hart did not play in Friday’s win over the Nets, resulting in Landry Shamet moving into the starting lineup. However, with Shamet (knee) ruled out for Sunday’s game, Mohamed Diawara may be the next man up if Hart remains out.
Landry Shamet
NYK
Guard
#44
Landry Shamet (knee) scored three points (1-of-5 FGs) with three rebounds, one assist, two steals, one block and one three-pointer in Friday’s win over the Nets.
Josh Hart’s absence with a knee injury meant a spot start for Shamet, but he was unable to take full advantage of the opportunity. The Knicks’ wing played 22 minutes before exiting during the third quarter with a sore right knee, and he did not offer much value before the departure. If the Knicks are down both wings on Sunday against the Wizards, Mohamed Diawara (eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, one block and two three-pointers) may be the next man up.
Jalen Brunson
NYK
Guard
#11
Jalen Brunson accounted for 17 points (7-of-19 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), five rebounds, eight assists, two steals and one three-pointer in Friday’s win over the Nets.
Brunson and the Knicks had a rough night in Brooklyn, but he got going in the fourth quarter and helped take home the victory. His percentages weren’t good, but category-league managers can benefit from the rebounds, assists and steals. Brunson and the Knicks end Week 21 on Sunday against the Wizards, another team headed for the draft lottery.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns finished Friday’s win over the Nets with 26 points (7-of-16 FGs, 11-of-13 FTs), 15 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one three-pointer.
Questionable for Friday’s game for personal reasons, Towns was the biggest reason why the Knicks avoided what would have been an embarrassing defeat. Six of his game-high 15 rebounds came on the offensive glass, and KAT also led all players in points. With the Knicks hosting the Wizards on Sunday, that’s another game in which Towns may showcase, especially with Washington also playing on Saturday.
