Pacome Dadiet accumulated seven points (3-of-11 FGs), six rebounds, one assist and one three-pointer in Sunday’s loss to the Celtics.

Dadiet was limited to 19 minutes on Sunday, as he was forced to exit with a sore left foot. While he can undoubtedly use the playing time after appearing in just 18 games as a rookie, the foot injury may be reason enough to shut down Dadiet for the remainder of the summer league. If so, there would be additional opportunities for MarJon Beauchamp (zero points, four rebounds, two assists and one block) and 2025 second-round pick Mohamed Diawara (5/3/1/2). And both players need to make a positive impression on Knicks’ decision-makers.
Ariel Hukporti

Ariel Hukporti accounted for nine points (2-of-4 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), 13 rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in Sunday’s loss to the Celtics.

Among the returnees in the Knicks’ summer lineup, Hukporti received the most playing time during the 2024-25 season. While the scoring output was limited, the second-year center was excellent as a rebounder and defender. Those are the areas where Hukporti will need to make an impact if he’s to crack the back end of the rotation next season. He’s worth watching this summer, especially if new Knicks head coach Mike Brown decides to start Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson together.

Kevin McCullar Jr. finished Sunday’s loss to the Celtics with 30 points (10-of-15 FGs, 9-of-10 FTs), four rebounds, one assist, two steals and one three-pointer.

While McCullar only appeared in four games as a rookie, he’s one of the players the Knicks hope to see perform well in Las Vegas. After a mediocre performance against the Pistons, he was lights out on Sunday. McCullar was efficient as a scorer, shooting well above 50 percent from the field. Unfortunately, he took an inadvertent elbow to the face during the fourth quarter and had to exit prematurely. Given New York’s wing depth, McCullar is unlikely to be in a position to impact fantasy basketball next season. However, teams can always use 3-and-D wings.

Tyler Kolek had 10 points (4-of-11 FGs), six rebounds, eight assists, one steal and one block against the Pistons on Friday.

Kolek played 27 minutes in the loss to the Pistons. The 24-year-old point guard had 10 points on 11 shots, missed all five of his three-point attempts and had five turnovers despite his eight assists. Kolek is behind Miles McBride and Jordan Clarkson as backup point guards for the Knicks, but he’s a solid depth player as he showed at times last season.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Knicks are expected to hire Mike Brown as the franchise’s next head coach.

Brown has an impressive, championship-laden resume as an assistant to Gregg Popovich and Steve Kerr, and he’ll look to help New York take the next step after back-to-back losses in the conference semifinals. Brown most recently coached the Kings for three seasons, where he helped them snap their lengthy playoff drought in his first season in Sacramento. He also six seasons coaching the Cavaliers across two different stints, which included an NBA Finals appearance in 2007.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports F Guerschon Yabusele has agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with the Knicks.

A weakness of the Knicks last year was bench depth. The Knicks relied so heavily on their starters under coach Tom Thibodeau, some players were seeing decent minutes coming off the bench for the first time in the Eastern Conference finals. After adding Jordan Clarkson on the first day of free agency and now signing Yabusele on a two-year deal, the Knicks are building some legitimate bench depth for their new coach, whoever that might end up being. Yabusele averaged 11 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game in 70 games for the 76ers last year.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports G Jordan Clarkson is expected to sign with the Knicks after he clears waivers.

A few hours after it was reported that the two sides had mutual interest, Clarkson has reportedly decided to sign with the Knicks once he clears waivers. The veteran guard, who agreed to a contract buyout with the Jazz on Monday, has appeared in 92 games over the last two seasons due to injuries. When healthy, Clarkson can provide value as a bench scorer, as evidenced by his winning Sixth Man of the Year following the 2020-21 season. From a fantasy standpoint, he offers limited value due to the limited production outside of points, assists and three-pointers.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports Mike Brown will have a second meeting with the Knicks and has emerged as a “strong candidate” for their head coaching vacancy.

Brown is the first candidate to have a second interview scheduled with the Knicks as New York’s exhaustive search for a new coach approaches a conclusion. The 55-year-old Brown last coached the Sacramento Kings, but was fired in his third season with the club after a 13-18 start to the season that included a five-game losing streak. He also previously coached the Cavaliers and the Lakers. The Knicks are still the only NBA team without a head coach.

Steve Popper of Newsday reports Jordan Clarkson and the Knicks have “mutual interest” when free agency opens.

Clarkson was recently bought out of his contract by the Jazz. The 33-year-old point guard isn’t the only big-name veteran with interest in the Knicks as Russell Westbrook is also reportedly interested in joining the reigning Eastern Conference finalists. While neither Westbrook nor Clarkson project for fantasy-relevant roles with the Knicks, both are ideal additions for the veteran minimum.

Ian Begley of SNY reported there will be mutual interest between Russell Westbrook and the Knicks when free agency opens.

The Knicks are one of several teams expected to be interested in Westbrook. The 36-year-old point guard had a bounce back season with the Nuggets averaging 13.3 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game and 6.1 assists per game. The Knicks have the $5 million tax-payer exception and the veteran’s minimum exception to offer free agents.
