Mitchell Robinson (ankle) is off the injury report and will play on Friday against the Nuggets.
The Knicks decided to hold Robinson out on Wednesday against the Thunder since it was the second leg of a back-to-back, but he will return to help his team battle Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart (back) is listed as questionable for Friday’s game against the Nuggets.
Hart has a lower back contusion, so this doesn’t seem like a major concern. If he were to miss this game, that would likely mean more minutes and usage for Landry Shamet.
OG Anunoby
NYK
Forward-Guard
#8
OG Anunoby tallied 16 points (6-of-17 FGs), three rebounds, three steals, two blocks and four three-pointers in Wednesday’s loss to the Thunder.
While he made four three-pointers on Wednesday, Anunoby needed 13 attempts to hit that number. The good news for managers in category leagues was that he produced three steals and two blocks, the first time he’s recorded at least five defensive contributions since a January 28 win over the Raptors. The Knicks play two more games in Week 19, starting with the Nuggets on Friday.
Jalen Brunson
NYK
Guard
#11
Jalen Brunson finished Wednesday’s loss to the Thunder with 16 points (5-of-18 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), three rebounds, 15 assists, one steal and two three-pointers.
The Thunder’s ability to rotate multiple players onto Brunson throughout Wednesday’s game led to him having one of his poorer offensive efforts of the season. However, he recorded a season-high 15 assists, just over a month after dishing out 13 in a win over the Lakers. There aren’t many teams with the perimeter personnel Oklahoma City boasts, and Brunson doesn’t shoot the ball as poorly as he did on Wednesday very often. He’ll look to bounce back on Friday in Denver.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns amassed 17 points (7-of-8 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), 17 rebounds and one assist in Wednesday’s loss to the Thunder.
While Towns only attempted eight shots on the night, his work on the glass was a big reason why the Knicks had a chance to send Wednesday’s game into overtime. He grabbed nine offensive rebounds, more than compensating for the Knicks not having Mitchell Robinson (ankle). The Knicks now hit the road for five games, starting with the Nuggets on Friday. They’ll need a similar performance from KAT, who has played arguably his best basketball of the season since the All-Star break.
Mitchell Robinson
NYK
Center-Forward
#23
Mitchell Robinson (ankle) has been ruled out against the Thunder on Wednesday.
As expected, Robinson will be unavailable after playing in Tuesday’s game against Toronto. Karl-Anthony Towns will continue to fill the bulk of the minutes at center, with Ariel Hukporti slotting in as the backup for this game.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart recorded 12 points (6-of-7 FGs, 0-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two blocks in Tuesday’s win over the Raptors.
Hart entered Tuesday in a bit of a slump, having shot 12-of-36 from the field over the last three games. He cleaned that up in Toronto, shooting 6-of-7 from the field while recording a solid overall stat line. Three-point shooting can be an issue at times due to nerve damage in his right hand, but Hart entered Tuesday making over 38 percent of his attempts.
OG Anunoby
NYK
Forward-Guard
#8
OG Anunoby accounted for 15 points (5-of-6 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), five rebounds and two three-pointers in Tuesday’s win over the Raptors.
The Knicks are a better basketball team when Anunoby comes out aggressive on the offensive end of the floor, and that was the case on Tuesday. He shot 5-of-6 from the field in the first quarter, scoring 14 points. The downside was that Anunoby’s numbers in the final three quarters were limited, and he did not record any defensive stats. However, that has not been the norm for him this season, so fantasy managers don’t have anything to worry about.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns amassed 21 points (10-of-17 FGs), 12 rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in Tuesday’s win over the Raptors.
Since the All-Star break, Towns has recorded five double-doubles in seven appearances. During the first half of Tuesday’s game, the Knicks’ center was on pace to record a triple-double, but the assist production tailed off after halftime. Towns will need to come through with a similar effort against the Thunder on Wednesday, especially with Mitchell Robinson (two points, 10 rebounds and two steals) appearing unlikely to be available.
Jalen Brunson
NYK
Guard
#11
Jalen Brunson finished Tuesday’s win over the Raptors with 26 points (10-of-22 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), two rebounds, 10 assists, one steal and two three-pointers.
Brunson finished with his seventh double-double of the season, hitting double digits in assists for the first time since a February 1 win over the Lakers. The Knicks’ guard had to deal with Scottie Barnes for most of Tuesday’s victory, and the Raptors also threw Jamal Shead at him. But Brunson still managed to get to his spots when it mattered most, shooting 4-of-7 from the field in the fourth quarter to help close out the win. The Knicks return home to host the Thunder on Wednesday in another high-profile matchup.
