OG Anunoby lit up the Pelicans on Tuesday with 21 points (7-of-16 FGs), four rebounds, four assists, three steals, one block and five three-pointers.
Anunoby got off to a hot start to this game, scoring 13 points in the first quarter. That surpassed his total of nine points from Sunday’s game. He cooled off over the rest of the game, but he was still able to contribute in other categories, which included his highest steal count since March 6. Anunoby will look to stay hot in Charlotte on Thursday as the Knicks kick off a four-game road trip.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 21 points (8-of-17 FGs), 14 rebounds, one assist and two three-pointers against the Pelicans.
Towns didn’t see his usual minutes, but he was still productive during his time on the floor. Mitchell Robinson was playing well, but the Knicks also rolled out a smaller lineup to close the game, largely to try to slow down Jeremiah Fears. Towns shouldn’t be this limited often, but he was still able to turn in a strong line. He should be back to playing his usual minutes in Charlotte on Thursday.
Jalen Brunson
NYK
Guard
#11
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks on Tuesday with 32 points (11-of-19 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), one rebound, seven assists and two three-pointers in a 121-116 win over the Pelicans.
Brunson had his highest-scoring game since Feb. 19, which was his first game after the All-Star break. That was enough for the Knicks to get a seventh straight win. Brunson was a little quieter in the two games before this one, which came right after a one-game absence with an ankle injury. It appears that the ankle isn’t giving him anymore trouble, and he’ll look to keep it going in Charlotte on Thursday.
Landry Shamet
NYK
Guard
#44
Landry Shamet (knee) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans.
Shamet, who exited Friday’s win over the Nets after banging knees with an opposing player, will miss a second consecutive game. Josh Hart (knee) returned to the lineup on Sunday and is off the injury report; he’ll take on his usual starting duties. Mohamed Diawara should once again absorb most of the minutes that would normally go to Shamet.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart (knee) amassed 16 points (5-of-9 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, four assists, two steals and three three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Wizards.
After sitting out Friday’s win over the Nets, Hart played 28 minutes in his return to the lineup on Sunday. The Knicks’ 32-point win helped keep his playing time down, but just as important has been Hart’s improved shooting. Making all three of his three-point attempts against the Wizards, he is 9-of-9 over his last three appearances. Even with the Knicks limited to three games in Week 22, Hart’s three-point shooting is a huge development for category league managers.
Jalen Brunson
NYK
Guard
#11
Jalen Brunson notched 23 points (9-of-19 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), four assists, one steal and two three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Wizards.
Limited to 17 points on 7-of-19 shooting in Friday’s win over the Nets, Brunson was better against the Wizards. The overall stat line was a bit lean, with the four assists being the fewest in a game for him since February 27. However, the Knicks kept Brunson on the bench for most of the fourth quarter, giving their star guard a little more rest. The Knicks return to action on Tuesday against the Pelicans.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns finished Sunday’s win over the Wizards with 26 points (9-of-13 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), 16 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one three-pointer.
After a disappointing performance in Friday’s win over the Nets, with Towns being one of the few positives, the Knicks were far more focused on Sunday. And KAT had another good night, finishing with his second straight game of at least 25 points and 15 rebounds. Since the All-Star break, Towns has provided first-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. The Knicks play three games in Week 22, starting with the Hornets on Tuesday.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart (knee) is available for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Hart is good to go after sitting out Friday’s win over the Nets. He’ll return to his usual role in the Knicks’ starting lineup. With Landry Shamet (knee) out, Mohamed Diawara will likely be the first wing off the bench.
Landry Shamet
NYK
Guard
#44
Landry Shamet (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Shamet exited Friday’s win over the Nets after 22 minutes due to soreness in his right knee, and he will sit out Sunday’s game as well. If Josh Hart (knee) is available, he’ll reclaim his usual spot in the starting lineup. If not, Mohamed Diawara may be asked to fill the void.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart (knee) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Hart did not play in Friday’s win over the Nets, resulting in Landry Shamet moving into the starting lineup. However, with Shamet (knee) ruled out for Sunday’s game, Mohamed Diawara may be the next man up if Hart remains out.
