Dallas fans want LeBron, make a website

Now it’s not just the teams with cap space who are hoping LeBron James will play for them next season. Dallas Mavericks fans have started up lebrontothemavs.com, which features a photoshop of LeBron in a Mavericks jersey, audio (that I found no way to turn off) of a LeBron-to-Dallas song made by fans, and some reasons why LeBron should sign with the Mavericks. (A chance to play with Kidd and Dirk, no state income tax, the Dallas Cowboys, et cetera.) According to the Associated Press, Mark Cuban is a fan of the site; on Thursday afternoon, the Mavericks owner tweeted “Gotta love Mavs fans !!” alongside a link to the site.

Dallas is, of course, way over the cap, but the hope for Mavericks fans is that Cleveland would pursue a sign-and-trade if they are sure LeBron is going to leave anyways. I have a hard time envisioning Dan Gilbert and Danny Ferry taking the PR hit that would come with trading James. Also, if LeBron does leave, it may be in the Cavs’ best interest to just take the cap space and start the rebuilding process. That said, anything is possible.
