While it’s early in the NBA season, we’re also to the point where injuries are already hitting some teams hard.
Here’s an update on some of the most significant injury news in recent days (this is not a comprehensive list, for that check out the NBC Sports Fantasy basketball pages, where everything is covered).
• The Pistons’ Monte Morris appears to have had a setback. Morris has yet to step onto the court for the team this season due to a right quad strain, and the team announced Tuesday he will be out another 6-8 weeks after receiving a PRP injection last week. It’s not a good sign for a team that has lost 11 in a row and could use the veteran help.
• Timberwolves’ defensive specialist Jaden McDaniels sprained his ankle in the first quarter of Minnesota’s 117-100 win against New York on Monday and will now be out 2-3 weeks recovering, the team announced. It is classified as a grade 1 sprain.
• The 76ers Kelly Oubre, who has been out since being struck by a car as a pedestrian in his neighborhood, has started some on-court workouts and will be re-evaluated in a week.
• The Memphis Grizzlies, already shorthanded and struggling this season, will remain without sharpshooter Luke Kennard (who missed the last two weeks), who will be re-evaluated in two weeks for a bone bruise in his left knee.
• While we’re talking injured Grizzlies, big man Xavier Tillman — forced into a larger role with Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke out — is week-to-week with a left leg injury.
• Injuries keep hitting the Kings, who will be without backup big man Alex Len for 6-8 weeks with a high ankle sprain.
• On the bright side of Pistons’ injury news, Bojan Bogdanovic appears close to a return from his right calf strain, doctors have cleared him for full contact practices.
