The Cowboys ruled out wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and right guard Tyler Booker for a third consecutive game. Both have ankle sprains.

The team chose not to put either player on injured reserve, hoping both would miss only three games.

The Cowboys also ruled out wide receiver KaVontae Turpin (foot), linebacker Jack Sanborn (concussion) and running back Miles Sanders (knee/ankle). Sanders will head to season-ending injured reserve Saturday, executive vice president Stephen Jones said on his radio show on 105.3 The Fan.

The Cowboys have given seven other players an injury designation.

Left guard Tyler Smith (knee), cornerback DaRon Bland (shoulder), cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee), defensive end Marshawn Kneeland (ankle), wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (knee), cornerback Caelen Carson (knee) and offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius (knee/knee) are questionable.

Mingo and Carson remain on injured reserve and have just completed their second week of practice in their 21-day practice window.

Left tackle Tyler Guyton (concussion) is cleared to return after missing Sunday’s game.

Rico Dowdle will be front and center for the Panthers again this Sunday.

Chuba Hubbard has been ruled out for the second straight week with a calf injury. Dowdle ran for a career-high 206 yards in last Sunday’s win over the Dolphins and will try for another big day against his former team in Sunday’s home game against the Cowboys.

Right tackle Taylor Moton (elbow) has also been ruled out. Yosh Nijman will likely step into his spot in the starting lineup.

Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton (toe) and cornerback Akayleb Evans (hamstring) will miss the game as well. Defensive back Mike Jackson (ribs), tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders (ankle), defensive back Chau Smith-Wade (chest), and wide receiver Jalen Coker (quadriceps) are listed as questionable. Coker will need to be activated from injured reserve in order to play on Sunday.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys had five players out of practice and 10 others who were limited. They had eight players out on Thursday, with nine others limited.

The Cowboys added defensive end Dante Fowler (illness) and quarterback Joe Milton (personal) to the list of players who didn’t practice. Neither was on the report on Wednesday.

Defensive end Sam Williams (shoulder) also was a new addition to the report, but he had a full practice.

Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (knee) and running back Miles Sanders (knee/ankle) were downgraded Thursday to DNP. Mingo, who remains on injured reserve, was a full participant on Wednesday, while Sanders was a limited participant.

Safety Donovan Wilson (elbow/knee) returned to limited work after sitting out on Wednesday’s work.

Right guard Tyler Booker (ankle), wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (ankle), wide receiver KaVontae Turpin (foot) and linebacker Jack Sanborn (concussion) remained out of practice a second consecutive day.

Cornerback DaRon Bland (shoulder), defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (hip), offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius (knee/knee), cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee), defensive end James Houston (knee), defensive end Marshawn Kneeland (ankle), right guard Tyler Smith (knee) and safety Juanyeh Thomas (ankle) again were limited.

Left tackle Tyler Guyton (concussion) was back to full participation, taking another step in the protocol.

Cornerback Caelen Carson (knee) and linebacker Kenneth Murray (knee) were full participants again.

Chuba Hubbard is the Panthers’ starting running back, but his backup, Rico Dowdle, is the NFC offensive player of the week after 234 yards from scrimmage on Sunday.

No one was happier for Dowdle than Hubbard, who called Dowdle’s award a foregone conclusion.

“Coach [Dave Canales] brought it up in the team meeting, and I mean we all kind of figured,” Hubbard said, via the team website. “I mean if they didn’t give it to him, that’s bullshit, to be honest. He definitely deserved it and more, so just happy to see him get his flowers.”

Hubbard’s calf injury opened the door for Dowdle to do what he did against the Dolphins, and Hubbard did not practice again on Wednesday. It would give Dowdle a start against his former team, the Cowboys, and he has already warned them to “buckle up.”

Dowdle, though, is not worried about losing playing time and carries to Hubbard once Hubbard returns. He shrugged at a question about returning to a backup role.

“Only thing I can control is coming in here and put my best foot forward each day,” Dowdle said. “And, like I said, two is better than one; we know for sure we’ve got two guys that can go out there and do it.”

Hubbard has 72 fewer carries than Dowdle this season, but, like Dowdle, he isn’t worried about playing time, touches or credit.

“I think one thing you can never be mad about is having a talented RB room,” Hubbard said. “I think there are ways to complement each other. Also, I think that you know there are moments like this where one guy goes down and another guy needs to step up.”

The Cowboys remain banged up with five players out of practice and 10 others getting only limited work.

Left guard Tyler Booker (ankle), wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (ankle), linebacker Jack Sanborn (concussion), wide receiver KaVontae Turpin (foot) and safety Donovan Wilson (elbow/knee) did not practice on Wednesday.

Booker, Lamb and Turpin were inactive with their injuries on Sunday, while Sanborn and Wilson were injured in the victory over the Jets.

Cornerback DaRon Bland (shoulder), defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (hip), offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius (knee/knee), cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee), left tackle Tyler Guyton (concussion), defensive end James Houston (knee), defensive end Marshawn Kneeland (ankle), running back Miles Sanders (knee/ankle), right guard Tyler Smith (knee) and safety Juanyeh Thomas (ankle) were limited.

Cornerback Caelen Carson (knee) and wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (knee) were full participants in their second week of practice. Both remain on injured reserve.
