STAMFORD, Conn. – Sept. 17, 2025 – Three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, seven-time All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, and the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs visit the New York Giants and Russell Wilson, who won Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium with the Seattle Seahawks, in the Week 3 edition of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with Football Night in America, followed by kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock and Universo.
The Chiefs fell to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, 20-17, last weekend. Mahomes threw for 187 yards and a touchdown and added 66 rushing yards and another score on the ground, while Kelce led the team with 61 receiving yards. Mahomes now has 293 career touchdown passes, including the playoffs, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning for the most touchdown passes by a player in his first nine seasons (including postseason) in NFL history.
The Giants lost to their division rival Dallas Cowboys, 40-37, in overtime on the road last weekend. Wilson threw for 450 yards, his highest total since the 2017 season, and three touchdowns. Rising star wide receiver Malik Nabers caught two of those touchdown passes among his nine receptions for 167 yards. Wilson is now the sixth player in NFL history with at least 400 passing yards and three touchdown passes in a game for three different teams (Giants, Steelers, Seahawks).
The Chiefs and Giants meet for the 16th time on Sunday, with Kansas City holding an 11-4 advantage in the all-time series. Mahomes and Wilson have met six times in their NFL careers, with Mahomes leading, 4-2. The two Super Bowl champion QBs last met on Christmas 2024, when Mahomes and the Chiefs defeated Wilson’s Pittsburgh Steelers, 29-10. Mahomes last played at MetLife Stadium in Week 4 of the 2023 season, when the Chiefs beat the New York Jets, 23-20, on Sunday Night Football.
Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (analyst), and Melissa Stark (sideline reporter) will call Chiefs-Giants. Three-time Super Bowl referee Terry McAulay is the rules analyst for all NFL games on NBC and Peacock.
