The PSG attacker struck in the 65th minute after brilliantly taking an Angel di Maria cross down with his chest and then powering a shot past goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama for the match’s lone tally.
Cavani leads the club this season with nine goals in 11 matches for the Parisians, as the Uruguayan continues his attempt to pick up the slack left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the summer when he joined Manchester United.
It was Di Maria who nearly gave PSG the lead in the 22nd minute after latching onto a long ball and beating Enyeama on a deflection. Despite finishing on his second effort, the goal was called back for offsides, keeping the match scoreless.
Lille was largely kept in check for most of the match, only posting one shot on target at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
PSG currently sits three points out of the top spot in France’s top flight, currently held by Nice, while Lille is just four points off the bottom.
