Wayne Rooney out of Spain friendly with knee injury

England will be without its skipper on Tuesday when the Three Lions take on Spain.

Manchester United attacker Wayne Rooney has been held out of the match against La Furia Roja after suffering a minor knee injury, according to the Football Association.

Rooney played 90 minutes in England’s 3-0 victory over Scotland on Friday, however, with the latest setback the 31-year-old could potentially out on United’s match against Arsenal on Saturday.

In Rooney’s absence, Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson will assume the team’s captain duties.
