Tarris Reed Jr. corrals 17 rebounds vs. Utah

Tarris Reed Jr. accounted for four points (1-of-6 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), 17 rebounds, one assist, three steals and one blocked shot in Monday’s exhibition against the Jazz.

With Victor Wembanyama and Luke Kornet locked into their spots in the Spurs’ rotation, Reed will likely be the third center in his rookie season. If there’s one area where he can be valuable, it’s on the glass. Reed grabbed 17 boards on Monday, including eight on the offensive end. That doesn’t make him a redraft-league target, but you should roster the first-round pick out of UConn in dynasty leagues.
HLs: Tatum leads Celtics past resilient Knicks
The New York Knicks closed the gap against Boston in the second half, but a clutch performance down the stretch by Jayson Tatum and a 36-point day staved off the defending champs for the Celtics' first win of the year.

Reed was quiet in his first summer league game, but he has now recorded a double-double in two straight outings. With Jayden Quaintance still recovering from a knee injury, Reed has a chance to be the backup to Victor Wembanyama in year one. He won’t play enough to be a consistent double-double producer, but if he’s able to make an impact on the glass in the non-Wemby minutes, he’ll be a valuable piece in year one.

A starter in both games he played at the California Classic, Reed recorded a double-double in Monday’s 88-84 defeat. And with fellow first-round pick Jayden Quaintance yet to play after revealing during his introductory press conference that he may need another procedure on his knee, the rookie out of UConn may be better equipped to compete for rotation minutes immediately. The Spurs won’t need Reed to be a prolific scorer, but his rebounding and defensive ability should give him an opportunity to contribute as a rookie.
  • SAS Center #10
Reed’s first bit of NBA action was a fairly unspectacular one. He shot inefficiently but made it to double figures as a scorer, while his seven boards led all San Antonio players for the game. Reed was selected with the 26th pick in this year’s draft. Even if he finds minutes in a talented Spurs frontcourt this upcoming season, it’s unlikely he will provide much fantasy value.
  • SAS Center
Reed played two seasons at Michigan before transferring to UConn for his final two, and he would emerge as one of the best post players in college basketball during the Huskies’ run to the 2026 title game. In 35 appearances, the 6-foot-10 center averaged 14.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.9 steals and 2.0 blocks, shooting 60.7 percent from the field and 61.7 percent from the foul line. While he won’t offer much offensive production outside of the paint, Reed is a solid screen-setter who finishes well around the basket. He also offers reliable production as a rebounder and defender. While the Nuggets selected him, Reed will be headed to San Antonio. The Spurs did select Jayden Quaintance earlier in the first round, but he has some health concerns. Reed has the potential to earn consistent rotation minutes as a rookie. In exchange for this pick, Denver receives the No. 35 pick in the 2026 draft, a 2028 second via Minnesota and a 2031 second via Sacramento.

Yaxel Lendeborg notched 18 points (4-of-11 FGs, 9-of-12 FTs), 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals and one three-pointer in Friday’s loss to the Grizzlies.

After a much-discussed debut in the Warriors’ loss to the Lakers on Wednesday, Lendeborg recorded his first career double-double on Friday. The rookie’s final stat line lacked only a blocked shot, but he has all the makings of a player who will offer consistent value in fantasy basketball. Stephen Curry (ankle) is not expected to play in Saturday’s game against the Suns, and Brandin Podziemski (back) has already been ruled out. If Lendeborg is sitting on your league’s waiver wire, don’t hesitate to pick him up.

Brandin Podziemski (head) accounted for 18 points (7-of-17 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), two rebounds, three assists, three steals, one block and two three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Grizzlies.

Podziemski entered Friday’s game dealing with a sore lower back that kept him out of Wednesday’s loss to the Lakers. It didn’t help matters that he took an inadvertent forearm from Grizzlies center Zach Edey to the head early in the first quarter. Podziemski returned later in the period after a trip to the locker room and logged 33 minutes overall. He finished with a complete stat line, but this is it for Podz in Week 1. After Friday’s defeat, he said he would not play in Saturday’s game against the Suns.

Graham Ike produced 10 points (4-of-7 FGs), two rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Grizzlies.

After starting Draymond Green at center in Wednesday’s loss to the Lakers, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr opted against that approach on Friday. As a result, Ike made his first NBA start. The rookie from Gonzaga shot reasonably well, but he offered little value beyond points and three-pointers. The Warriors visit Phoenix on Saturday, and Ike may play more, as Al Horford hasn’t played both games of back-to-backs in a few years.

Stephen Curry tallied 24 points (5-of-15 FGs, 11-of-11 FTs), three rebounds, four assists and three three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Grizzlies.

Curry led the Warriors in scoring on Friday, but he shot a frigid 5-of-15 from the field. The assists were solid, but this was not the best night to have the Warriors star in most fantasy lineups. After the game, Curry said he “probably” won’t play against the Suns on Saturday, bad news for fantasy managers hoping for a bounce-back effort.

GG Jackson finished Friday’s win over the Warriors with two points (1-of-6 FGs), four rebounds and one assist.

With Cedric Coward (wrist) unavailable, Jackson moved into the starting lineup on Friday. Unfortunately for those who streamed him, GG offered little value as a spot starter. He picked up four fouls in 10 first-half minutes, and Kris Murray (three rebounds, one assist, and one block) would start the third quarter. Whether or not Jackson gets another opportunity on Sunday against the Kings depends on Coward’s health, but he may not be worth the streaming risk in most leagues.

Isaiah Stewart notched four points (2-of-3 FGs), two rebounds and one steal in Friday’s win over the Warriors.

Stewart made his official Grizzlies debut on Friday, playing most of his minutes when starting center Zach Edey (8/10/3/1/2) was not on the floor. Unfortunately, Beef Stew picked up four fouls in the first half, including three in the first quarter, which limited him to 16 minutes. It remains to be seen what his role will look like once the ankle is no longer a concern, but Stewart isn’t someone worth rostering in most redraft leagues just yet.

Jaylen Wells recorded 17 points (5-of-9 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), four rebounds, three assists and four three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Warriors.

After recording 12 points and four steals in Wednesday’s season-opening win over the Jazz, Wells was more productive offensively against the Warriors. He scored an efficient 17 points, a number he met or exceeded in 18 of 69 appearances last season. Wells still isn’t at the point where he’s a must-roster player, but he should have more room to produce, especially on nights when Cedric Coward (wrist) doesn’t play.

Ty Jerome accounted for 28 points (11-of-22 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), two rebounds, five assists, one steal and three three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Warriors.

After scoring 45 points in Wednesday’s opener, Jerome appeared to be coming down to earth in the first half of Friday’s game. However, after scoring eight first-half points on 3-of-7 shooting, the Grizzlies point guard put up 14 points in the third quarter. Jerome and the Grizzlies ripped off a 17-0 run in the fourth to move to 2-0 on the season, getting their four-game road trip off to a good start.

Cameron Boozer finished Friday’s win over the Warriors with 25 points (6-of-13 FGs, 9-of-9 FTs), 13 rebounds, six assists, two steals and four three-pointers.

After struggling with his shot in his NBA debut on Wednesday, Boozer had a much better night against the Warriors. The rookie forward made four of his first five three-point attempts and scored 14 points in the first half. By the end of the night, Boozer had made franchise history, becoming the second-youngest Grizzly to record a double-double. Memphis ends its Week 1 with a game against the Kings on Sunday.

Darius Garland finished Friday’s loss to the Lakers with 26 points (9-of-19 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), six assists, one steal and four three-pointers.

The star guards in this matchup all seemed to struggle with turnovers. Garland racked up nine, while the Lakers’ Luka Dončić (11) and Austin Reaves (six) combined for 17. Garland had a solid night shooting the basketball, but nine-cat managers took a hit because of the turnovers. He’ll look to finish Week 1 on a high note when the Clippers visit the Thunder on Sunday.
