After coming off the bench in Wednesday’s win over the Thunder, Barnes was back in the starting lineup Thursday night, with Stephon Castle coming off the bench. The veteran forward made the most of his opportunities, shooting 5-of-7 from three. And the 19 points were the most in a game for Barnes since he scored 20 in a December 23 win over Oklahoma City. He isn’t worth the risk in most fantasy leagues, but Barnes is still capable of coming through with a good night every so often.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Nuggets plan to sign KJ Simpson to a two-way contract.

With Spencer Jones set to be upgraded to a standard contract, the Nuggets will have a two-way contract slot to work with. According to Charania, the team has decided to use the available slot to sign Simpson. The 42nd overall pick in the 2024 draft, the 6-foot point guard was waived by the Hornets after the trade deadline. A hip injury sidelined Simpson before Charlotte waived him, so there’s no guarantee he’ll be available immediately upon signing with the Nuggets.
