Knueppel was a game-high +18 in 35 minutes in the seven-point victory for the Hornets. Charlotte will close out the week with a matchup with the Pistons on Saturday.

Miller was excellent in the win over the Hawks Thursday. The 23-year-old small forward had a full stat line as he recorded three steals and one block in addition to pouring in 26 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out seven assists. The Hornets got elite production from their big three of Miller, LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel. Miller in particular had a big night as his 9-of-15 game had his shooting percentage nearly double what he’s provided lately.

LaMelo Ball had 28 points (10-of-16 FGs), four rebounds, 13 assists, one steal and eight three-pointers in the Hornets’ 133-126 victory over the Hawks on Thursday.

Ball returned to the court after missing the last three games with a bone bruise in his left ankle. The 24-year-old point guard ended up having a great game with most of his damage coming in the first half. Ball started the game strong with 21 points, eight assists and seven three-pointers in the first half. He played 29 minutes as he wasn’t on a minutes limit Thursday. Ball and the Hornets will have Friday off before Saturday’s game against the Pistons.

After missing Charlotte’s last three games with a bone bruise in his left ankle, Ball is officially available to play. His minutes will be restricted, so KJ Simpson won’t fall out of the rotation entirely. That said, there isn’t much to gain from holding onto Simpson if you’ve been streaming him. Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and Ryan Kalkbrenner complete the starting lineup.

Ball’s upgraded status means he’ll likely take the court against Atlanta and return from a three-game absence. Ball should reclaim his starting spot, and there’s no reason to suspect that he’ll face a minutes restriction. KJ Simpson and Sion James will see reduced playing time with Ball’s return.

He’ll start if Ball has to miss another game with his ankle injury.
