Darius Garland accumulated a team-high 26 points (8-of-19 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs), two rebounds, nine assists, one steal and one block over 39 minutes in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Hornets.

Garland led the Cavaliers in scoring during regulation before coming up empty on all three of his shot attempts as they somehow went scoreless in overtime. He also committed a costly turnover with 23 seconds left in the marathon affair that enabled Charlotte to hang on for an improbable win. Cleveland will attempt to get back on track next week with a pair of matchups against the Bulls, who rank 23rd in defensive rating since the start of December.
Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell recorded just 17 points (6-of-24 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), two rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block over 37 minutes during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Hornets.

It was an off-night for Cleveland’s primary catalyst as Mitchell went just 1-of-10 from three-point range during regulation and missed a potential game-winning jumper at the buzzer. He also came up empty on all three of his shot attempts during overtime as Charlotte pulled out a stunning win. The clunker comes on the heels of a surreal 48-point eruption during Friday’s win over the lowly Wizards. He’ll attempt to rebound next week when the Cavaliers face off against the reeling Bulls in a pair of contests.
Jarrett Allen

Jarrett Allen registered nine points (3-of-8 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), three rebounds and one assist over 22 minutes during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Hornets.

Allen made his return to Cleveland’s lineup following a six-game absence dating back to November 28 due to a finger injury. The 27-year-old big man was limited to just 22 minutes and hoisted just eight field goals. It’s been a bit of a lost season for him so far but the positive news is that he’s healthy and back in the mix as the Cavaliers attempts to get back on track without Evan Mobley (calf) for a couple weeks.

The Cavaliers will start Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, De’Andre Hunter, Dean Wade and Jarrett Allen in Sunday’s matchup with the Hornets.

Jarrett Allen will reclaim his starting spot, and Dean Wade will replace Jaylon Tyson in the first unit. Tyson is still expected to see meaningful minutes off the bench, and he should be held in fantasy leagues, especially with Evan Mobley out for multiple weeks.

Merrill has not appeared in a game since November 17, which has freed up additional minutes for Jaylon Tyson and De’Andre Hunter. That will remain the case on Sunday, with Tyson offering a slightly higher fantasy ceiling for managers competing in category leagues.

Jarrett Allen (finger) is probable for Sunday’s game against the Hornets.

Allen is on track to make his first appearance since November 28, and it would come at an excellent time for the Cavaliers. With Evan Mobley (calf) out for at least two to four weeks, Allen would possess a higher fantasy ceiling as the lone post player in the starting lineup. If he remains out on Sunday, expect to see plenty of Dean Wade and Thomas Bryant.

Evan Mobley (calf) is expected to be sidelined for two to four weeks.

While Mobley played 36 minutes in Friday’s win over the Wizards, he suffered a strained left calf and will be sidelined for a bit. According to the Cavaliers, it’s a Grade 1 strain and Mobley is expected to miss approximately two to four weeks. With Jarrett Allen sidelined by finger injuries on both hands, Dean Wade and Thomas Bryant will figure more prominently in the frontcourt rotation. Wade has played more than Bryant, making him the preferred streaming option if Allen can’t play on Sunday against the Hornets.
Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mirchell amassed 48 points (17-of-31 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs), four rebounds, four assists, two steals and eight three-pointers in the win over the Wizards on Friday.

The Cavaliers got back in the win column on Friday behind Mitchell’s highest scoring performance of the season. The veteran combo guard got up over 30 shot attempts for the first time this season, which he converted efficiently en route to a near 50-point performance. He used the three-point shot to his advantage and, despite the high volume of shots, he made at least a little bit of impact as a facilitator along the way. Mitchell has been on a tear lately, scoring 40 or more points in three of his last seven games and nailing at least seven threes in each of said games. He will look to stay hot against the Hornets on Sunday.
Evan Mobley

Evan Mobley logged 23 points (7-of-17 FGs, 7-of-9 FTs), 13 rebounds, six assists and two three-pointers in the win over the Wizards on Friday.

While he wasn’t his usual efficient self from a shotmaking perspective, Mobley was quite impactful on the offensive end. He produced both inside and outside the arc en route to finishing with 20 or more points for the 12th time this season, and tied a team-high in assists, as well. Mobley didn’t produce any counting stats on the defensive end, which is rare for him, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. Nonetheless, he put forth some strong production from a fantasy standpoint and continues to put up solid numbers overall.
Darius Garland

Darius Garland totaled 18 points (6-of-17 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), three rebounds, six assists and two steals on Friday in the win over the Wizards.

Garland was as efficient as one could be inside the arc, shooting 6-of-6 on two-point shots, but his 0-of-11 shooting from deep left him completely unimpactful from behind the line. Yet, even with the shooting struggles, Garland was one of the Cavaliers’ highest scorers on the evening and concluded with a share of the most assists. Surely, fantasy managers will want more production from Garland going forward, but they must remain patient in the early stages of the season as he continues to work his way back from offseason toe surgery.
