Duren was upgraded to probable Wednesday afternoon, so his availability against the Hawks isn’t a surprise. The 22-year-old center continues to manage right knee soreness and with this being the first game of a back-to-back it’s possible Duren won’t play against the Pelicans on Thursday. With Isaiah Stewart (calf) still sidelined, Paul Reed will backup Duren on Wednesday.

Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said on Wednesday that Isaiah Stewart (calf) is progressing in his recovery but his return won’t be rushed.

Stewart has been out since March 13 with a strained left calf, and the Pistons have not provided a concrete return timeline. According to Bickerstaff, while he is progressing, this is a situation the Pistons will “take our time with.” Paul Reed has played consistent rotation minutes as Jalen Duren’s backup, and that won’t change until Stewart returns.

Stewart will remain sidelined for a sixth straight game with this calf injury. Paul Reed has filled out the backup center minutes, which has led to a few strong performances. However, with Jalen Duren healthy and available, Reed won’t be worth streaming.
