Kevin Seraphin making the jump to the NBA this season was touch-and-go there for awhile, but the No. 17 pick is now set to make his debut with the Wizards this fall. Seraphin has reached a buyout agreement with his current club, Cholet, and will play in the NBA this season, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post.
The Wiz need him. While adding Kirk Hinrich and John Wall makes for an awfully crowded backcourt, JaVale McGee, Hilton Armstrong, and Hamady N’Diaye were slated to play most of the minutes at center next season, with Andray Blatche also sliding over to the 5 at times.
That’s not a group of prospects that inspires a terrible amount of confidence. It’s highly likely that Seraphin is already a better NBA big than Armstrong, and both he and N’Diaye will provide intriguing rotation alternatives for Flip Saunders. The lion’s share of the center minutes will be McGee’s to lose, but Seraphin and N’Diaye are quite talented, very athletic, and ready to roll.
