There is some quarterback news to keep an eye on out of Indianapolis on Thursday.

Daniel Jones was added to the team’s injury report as a limited participant in the day’s practice with a calf issue.

This is the first time Jones has appeared on the injury report in 2025.

Jones and the Colts are coming off a Week 11 bye after defeating the Falcons in overtime in Berlin. In 10 games this season, Jones has completed 70 percent of his passes for 2,659 yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions — good for a career-high 101.6 passer rating.

With Anthony Richardson on injured reserve after suffering an orbital fracture in a freak pregame incident, sixth-round rookie Riley Leonard is currently Indianapolis’ backup QB. The club also has veteran Brett Rypien on the practice squad.

Elsewhere on the injury report, defensive end Tyquan Lewis (groin) was upgraded from a non-participant to limited. Defensive end Samson Ebukam (knee) remained limited.

Linebacker Jaylon Carlies (ankle), receiver Anthony Gould (knee), and cornerback Charvarius Ward (concussion) all remained full.

The Chiefs expect to have a full house at practice on Thursday.

According to the team’s pre-practice injury report, they plan to have every player on the active roster on the practice field in some capacity. That’s a positive change for wide receiver Xavier Worthy and left guard Kingsley Suamataia after they both missed Wednesday’s session.

It’s a similar pattern to the one Worthy followed last week while dealing with an ankle injury. He was limited on Thursday and a full participant on Friday before catching three passes for 25 yards in Kansas City’s loss to the Broncos.

Suamataia is in the concussion protocol, so he will need to pass that in order to be on the field against the Colts on Sunday.

Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is in the final year of his rookie contract and he’s setting himself up for a nice payday on his second deal.

Pierce led the league in yards per catch during the 2024 season and he’s doing the same this year as an integral part of the league’s highest-scoring team. Pierce has shown that he can be more than just a deep threat as wel.

With 28 catches in eight games, Pierce is averaging more catches per game than he did in his first three seasons due to what he calls “a better chance to showcase” his full complement of skills. That evolution of his game is why teammate Michael Pittman feels “the price just keeps going up” if the Colts can’t get an extension done with Pierce in the near future. Wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne agrees with that assessment.

“His arrow is going up,” Wayne said, via Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star. “Just like his price tag.”

If Pierce continues on this track, he will be one of the top free agents available if he hits the open market next March but the Colts will have a chance to keep that from happening if they move quickly.

Running back Isiah Pacheco was back on the practice field for the Chiefs on Wednesday.

Pacheco missed the last two weeks with a knee injury, but he was listed as a full participant as the Chiefs got to work ahead of this weekend’s game against the Colts. If he maintains that level of participation the rest of the week, it would be a good sign that he’ll be ready to go on Sunday.

Left guard Kingsley Suamataia (concussion) and wide receiver Xavier Worthy (ankle) did not take part in Wednesday’s practice.

Linebacker Jeffrey Bassa (shoulder), safety Jaden Hicks (shoulder), defensive end George Karlaftis (thumb), defensive end Charles Omenihu (ankle), right guard Trey Smith (back), and right tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee, ankle) were all full participants.

The Chiefs are getting one of their key offensive players back on the field.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters in his press conference that running back Isiah Pacheco will return to practice on Wednesday.

Pacheco has been sidelined by a knee injury and was considered week-to-week. He’s rushed for 329 yards with one touchdown in eight games. He’s also caught 11 passes for 43 yards with a TD.

Additionally, receiver Xavier Worthy is dealing with an ankle injury and may be limited during Wednesday’s practice.

Guard Kingsley Suamataia will not practice on Wednesday while in concussion protocol.
