Yesterday Rams head coach Sean McVay said he was not sure if wide receiver Demarcus Robinson would play this week after he was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Today McVay said Robinson will play.
McVay told reporters that Robinson will play for the Rams on Sunday against the Seahawks.
McVay said Robinson addressed the team and showed remorse for his actions and that he’s a good person who made a bad decision and understands the severity of it. McVay said the Rams will allow the legal process and the league’s disciplinary process to play out.
Players who drive drunk are typically suspended by the NFL, but usually only after a conviction, not just an arrest. That will likely be the case with Robinson as well, and for now the Rams will continue to play him.
The Seahawks defense has turned in two strong performances since returning from their bye week and safety Coby Bryant was in the center of last Sunday’s outing.
Bryant picked off a pass by Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray midway through the third quarter and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown. Bryant also had six tackles to help Seattle to a 16-6 home win that pushed them into first place in the NFC West.
The NFL recognized Bryant’s effort by naming him the NFC defensive player of the week for the first time in his career.
Bryant now has 39 tackles, two interceptions, and four passes defensed on the season.
The Jets aren’t shutting quarterback Aaron Rodgers down because of the various injuries he’s been dealing with in recent weeks, but they may be without some other offensive regulars against the Seahawks this weekend.
Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich told reporters at a press conference that running back Breece Hall will not take part in practice on Wednesday. Hall is dealing with a knee injury and Ulbrich said he is hopeful that he’ll be able to go come the weekend.
Left tackle Tyron Smith’s outlook sounds a little more pessimistic. Smith has been out with a neck injury and Ulbrich said that the veteran could go on injured reserve. That would keep Smith out four games and, given the calendar and Smith’s history, it could be a season-ending move.
There’s some better news on defense. Linebacker C.J. Mosley is set to practice after missing the last four games with a neck injury.
The Seahawks claimed defensive back A.J. Finley on Tuesday, the team announced.
The Chargers waived Finley on Monday ahead of their game against the Ravens.
Finley earned a spot on the roster to start the season and played in the first 10 games. He saw action on 170 special teams snaps but only 43 on defense.
In 2023, Finley bounced between the active roster and the practice squad, while becoming a core special teams player. He played 12 games last season and saw action on 200 special teams plays and 26 on defense.
He has 10 tackles this season after making three last season with a forced fumble.
The Seahawks waived defensive end Myles Adams in a corresponding move.
The Jets aren’t making a quarterback change.
Aaron Rodgers has been listed with hamstring, knee, and ankle injuries this season and a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Media this weekend said that he has resisted scans that would show the severity of the injuries because he doesn’t want to stop playing. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said at a Monday press conference that the report was news to him and that Rodgers is feeling well after the team’s bye week.
Ulbrich also said that Rodgers will start against the Seahawks this week and that there has been no discussion regarding sitting Rodgers down because of his health, his performance or the team’s record.
Another report over the weekend indicated Rodgers wants to play in 2025, but not for the Jets. The quarterback usually visits The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesdays and speaks to reporters from the team’s facility on Wednesday, so he’ll have a chance to shed light on all of the chatter in the coming days.
