As the NBA weathers a storm of COVID-related absences in nearly every city, it can be a challenge to figure out which players will produce on any given night. Over the past week or so, there have been scoring burdens placed on players who normally do their work as rotation pieces. The old maxim holds true: the best ability is availability, especially in the modern sports world.
The importance of availability to daily fantasy sports can’t be understated either; if you manage to test negative and evade protocols, you’re going to have an opportunity. Today, we spotlight how to navigate tonight’s NBA DFS slate based around one question: Who will step up?
We here at NBC Sports EDGE strive to give you the tools needed to secure a profit in your DFS contests. With the 7 PM ET slate of games inching closer, it’s the perfect time to share our DFS Projections for tonight’s NBA action.
Our EDGE tools are aimed at giving you the knowledge you need to stay a step ahead of the rest of the daily fantasy community all season long. From projections to the lineup optimizer, salary tracker, positional reports and exclusive expert columns, this year’s edition of NBA tools is the finest we’ve ever produced.
By evaluating what our DFS Projections have to offer, managers can outsmart their competition by rostering highly-projected options at budget-friendly prices. The goal is to synthesize which players boast the most actionable value when leveraging their scoring outlook with their roster pricing. With the player landscape in total disarray, we have a unique opportunity to capitalize on players at a bargain price considering their availability to play and, consequently, opportunity to produce. Check out which guys our projections like to step up on Monday night:
NBA DFS Projections | Monday, Dec. 27
It’s no surprise to see Damian Lillard and James Harden as the top-two projected scorers and some of the most expensive options for tonight’s slate. Where the Projections tool flexes its muscles is by zeroing-in on players who have an opportunity to produce big numbers without slashing the roster budget. Clint Capela and Patty Mills are two players who meet this criteria and could step up as excellent DFS roster additions at their current pricing. Capela has proven to be one of the most impactful centers in the East and should carry a heavy load for Atlanta tonight against the Chicago Bulls. In a similar vein -- though opposite positionally -- Patty Mills has shown he is capable of assuming Kevin Durant‘s scoring role for the Nets and his offensive efforts will be needed tonight at Crypto.com Arena against the Los Angeles Clippers. Based on pricing and scoring outlook, our Projections love Capela’s and Mills’ chances of stepping up on Monday night.
