De’Anthony Melton records 16/5/3/2 line vs. Lakers

De'Anthony Melton

GSW Guard #8

Player Stats

De’Anthony Melton produced 16 points (5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and four three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Lakers.

Golden State’s bench made the difference on Friday, outscoring the Lakers’ bench 50-7. Melton scored 13 of his 16 points in the second quarter, shooting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. He needed just 21 minutes to record his final stat line, showing why Melton can add value for category-league managers despite coming off the bench. The Warriors play one more game this week, hosting the Clippers on Sunday.

De’Anthony Melton finished Saturday’s loss to the Suns with 25 points (8-of-13 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), five rebounds, five assists, three steals and four three-pointers.

Melton didn’t start Saturday’s game, but Stephen Curry’s and Brandin Podziemski’s absences gave him more opportunities. Melton took advantage, scoring 25 points, the most he’s scored in a game since 27 against the Wizards on March 16. Add in the rebounds, assists and steals, and Saturday night was a good one for fantasy managers who slotted Melton into their lineups.
Stephen Curry

GSW Guard #30

Stephen Curry (knee) is out for Saturday’s game against the Suns.

No surprise here as Curry said after Friday’s loss to the Grizzlies that he probably wouldn’t play against the Suns Saturday. With Brandin Podziemski also out, De’Anthony Melton and Will Richard could start and see significant minutes.
Brandin Podziemski

GSW Guard #2

Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Yaxel Lendeborg, Draymond Green and Graham Ike will start Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.

Podziemski is available after missing Wednesday’s loss to the Lakers due to a lower-back injury. His return means that De’Anthony Melton will come off the bench. Ike gets his first NBA start, letting Green play his usual power forward role.
Brandin Podziemski

GSW Guard #2

Brandin Podziemski (back) is available for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.

Podziemski is available after sitting out Wednesday’s season-opening loss to the Lakers. His return likely pushes De’Anthony Melton to the bench.
Brandin Podziemski

GSW Guard #2

Brandin Podziemski (back) is questionable for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.

Podziemski did not play in Wednesday’s loss to the Lakers, leading to De’Anthony Melton taking the starting spot. Melton played 21 minutes, while reserves Will Richard and Brandon Williams played 20 and 18 minutes, respectively. Expect a similar rotation if Podziemski can’t play on Friday.
Brandin Podziemski

GSW Guard #2

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said on Wednesday that he’s hopeful Brandin Podziemski (back) will return for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.

After missing practice on Monday, Podziemski will miss Wednesday’s opener against the Lakers due to lower back soreness. However, he may not be out long, with Kerr hoping Podz can play on Friday. De’Anthony Melton is the player whose role may expand the most while Podziemski sits.
Brandin Podziemski

GSW Guard #2

Brandin Podziemski (back) has been ruled out against the Lakers on Wednesday.

Podz missed practice on Monday and will now be unavailable for the season opener. There are high expectations for the type of impact he’ll make this season, so they’ll certainly miss him. De’Anthony Melton will likely replace him in the starting unit.
Brandin Podziemski

GSW Guard #2

Brandin Podziemski (back) did not participate in Monday’s practice.

This has been a bad 24 hours for the Warriors, who saw Stephen Curry suffer an ankle injury during Sunday’s open practice. Podziemski is dealing with a sore lower back, casting some doubt on his availability for Wednesday’s season opener against the Lakers. If he can’t play, De’Anthony Melton takes on added importance within the Warriors’ rotation.
De'Anthony Melton

GSW Guard #8

De’Anthony Melton (thumbs) told NBC Sports Bay Area that he expects to play both games of back-to-backs this season.

Focusing on honing one’s craft during the offseason, rather than rehabbing from an injury, can make a significant difference for a player. That was the case for Melton this offseason, despite procedures on both thumbs. Last summer was spent recovering from a torn ACL, while a back injury was the issue in the summer of 2024. A healthy Melton can be a factor in fantasy basketball, especially category leagues, whether he starts or comes off the bench. His injury history puts him in “late-round flier” territory in drafts, but Melton can still be a steal for managers.
Brandon Williams

GSW Guard #10

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Brandon Williams has agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million deal to join the Golden State Warriors.

In his third season with Dallas, Williams enjoyed the most productive campaign of his career behind averages of 13 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.2 “stocks.” He’ll offer depth to a Warriors team that surprisingly stood pat during free agency, and Williams will compete for backup guard minutes with the likes of De’Anthony Melton and Will Richard.

Brown is back after sitting out Friday’s win over the Knicks, but the 76ers are giving LeBron James and Joel Embiid the night off. As a result, Wade remains a starter, and Bona starts at center.

Deni Avdija finished Saturday’s win over the Jazz with 24 points (6-of-12 FGs, 10-of-13 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal and two three-pointers.

Portland’s first game since losing Ja Morant to a hamstring strain went smoothly, as they beat the Jazz by 22. Avdija led the way offensively, shooting a solid percentage from the field. He was one of three Trail Blazers to record multiple assists, along with Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday. Compared to Thursday’s loss to the Grizzlies, Avdija’s usage increased slightly, and it should remain that way until Morant returns. Portland plays four games next week, starting with Denver on Monday.

Due to the birth of his son, Murray will miss a second straight game. That leaves Jeremiah Fears as the lone point guard in the starting lineup, raising the second-year guard’s fantasy ceiling considerably. Also, Herb Jones should get another start.
