Omer Asik is set to be waived by the Bulls to clear a roster spot, according to Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic.
Asik is currently out indefinitely due to inflammatory arthritis and might not play in the NBA again. Asik is owed $11.2 million this season and is under contract for 2019-20 at $11.9 million, but only $3 million of next year’s salary is guaranteed. The Bulls are adding Shaquille Harrison with the roster spot created by this transaction.

Bobby Portis started on Tuesday and finished with 17 points (8-of-16 FGs), 12 rebounds, eight assists and one steal against the 76ers.
Portis entered the starting lineup for this game, and if he remains there, fantasy managers should enjoy a long stretch of strong production. He fell two assists shy of a triple-double but still recorded his first double-double in nearly three weeks. Portis is currently rostered in just 37 percent of Yahoo! leagues, but with Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) set to miss an extended period of time, Portis should be considered a must-roster player as long as he’s starting.

  • OKC Center-Forward #7
Chet Holmgren had 20 points (8-of-14 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), 14 rebounds, three assists, five blocks and one three-pointer in Tuesday’s win over the Pelicans.
Holmgren did most of his damage Tuesday in the third quarter, when he had 14 points and seven rebounds. He also had a huge impact on the defensive end with five blocks. Holmgren is holding opponents to 49.3 percent field goal percentage at the rim this year, the lowest mark in the NBA. He’s provided second-round per game value over the last two weeks. The Thunder are off until Thursday, when they take on the Timberwolves.
  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 29 points (8-of-22 FGs, 13-of-14 FTs), six rebounds and four assists in the Thunder’s 104-95 victory over the Pelicans on Tuesday.
Gilgeous-Alexander has a reputation for getting a friendly whistle at times and Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans was one of those times. The 27-year-old point guard had 29 points with 13 of those coming from the free throw line. It’s the fifth time he’s made at least 10 free throws in a game this month. The Thunder will be in Minnesota on Thursday to take on the Timberwolves.
  • WAS Forward #18
Kyshawn George stuffed the stat sheet on Tuesday with 19 points (5-of-16 FGs), eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, two blocks and four three-pointers against the Trail Blazers.
George had another rough shooting night, but he has been able to make up for it by being effective in other categories. This was the fourth straight game that he shot below 40 percent from the floor, but he has still been able to provide third-round value in nine-category leagues during that stretch. He is a good shooter, so that won’t always be an issue. George has the makings of a fantasy superstar, and he’ll look to get back on track offensively against the Bucks on Thursday.
  • SAC Guard-Forward #10
DeMar DeRozan had 34 points (13-of-26 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs), five rebounds and one three-pointer in Tuesday’s loss against the Kings.
DeRozan had scored more than 20 points just once in his last six games entering play Tuesday. The 36-year-old shooting guard once again showed he has no trouble putting up points against the Knicks. DeRozan dropped 27 points in a win over the Knicks on January 14 and had 34 in the loss against the Knicks on Tuesday. The Kings road trip continues Thursday against the 76ers.
  • WAS Center #20
Alex Sarr led the Wizards with 29 points (11-of-29 FGs), 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals, six blocks and three three-pointers in a 115-111 win over the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
It was a subpar shooting night for Sarr, but it was a monster night in every other category for him. This was his first double-double since January 11, and he scored at least 20 points for the third time in his last four games. He also matched his season high for both steals and blocks. That was enough to snap Washington’s losing streak. He has taken great strides this season and will look to stay hot against the Bucks on Thursday.
  • NYK Forward-Guard #8
OG Anunoby had 15 points (5-of-7 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), two rebounds, two steals and three three-pointers in Tuesday’s win over the Kings.
The Knicks had to overcome 18 total turnovers to get a much-needed victory over the Kings on Tuesday. No one was a bigger culprit than Anunoby, who had seven turnovers in the loss. All of a sudden, the 28-year-old small forward has 19 turnovers in his last five games. It’s hurt his value as he’s provided just 13th-round per game value over the last two weeks. Anunoby will look to bounce back against the Raptors Wednesday.
  • WAS Guard #0
Bilal Coulibaly returned to the lineup on Tuesday and finished with five points (1-of-2 FGs), five rebounds, six assists, two steals, two blocks and one three-pointer against the Trail Blazers.
Coulibaly missed the last five games for the Wizards, and he returned to the starting lineup in his first game back. He logged 28 minutes and contributed solid value across the board, scoring aside. He only took two shots, so it isn’t that he struggled; he simply wasn’t aggressive on offense. That isn’t concerning, especially since he was able to produce in other categories. He’ll look to keep it going against the Bucks on Thursday.
  • NYK Center-Forward #32
Karl-Anthony Towns had 17 points (5-of-15 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), 11 rebounds, four assists and three three-pointers in Tuesday’s win over the Kings.
Towns has now recorded a double-double in eight of his last 12 games. The 30-year-old center was having a good game, but curiously didn’t close the game on the floor as the Knicks went with a different lineup. Towns ended up playing only 27 minutes while Mitchell Robinson played 26 minutes off the bench. Giving up minutes to Robinson like that isn’t a positive development for Towns’ fantasy value. It’s a situation his fantasy managers may have to monitor going forward.
  • POR Guard #17
Shaedon Sharpe led the Trail Blazers with 31 points (11-of-20 FGs), four rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block and five three-pointers in a 115-111 loss to the Wizards on Tuesday.
Sharpe has been a consistent scorer for Portland for most of the season. Coming off a rough performance on Monday, where he was held to nine points, Sharpe responded with his first 30-point game since mid-December. The steals have been there consistently as well, which has allowed him to produce top-50 value in nine-category leagues over the past two weeks. He’ll look to stay hot in New York on Friday.
