Hannes Steinbach had 27 points (13-of-22 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), 15 rebounds, three assists and one steal in the Hornets’ 110-91 loss to the Bucks on Wednesday.

Steinbach went off for his first monster game of Summer League, though it wasn’t enough for the Hornets to beat the Bucks. The 20-year-old power forward showed his tremendous fantasy upside as he was relentless on the offensive end with 27 points and seven offensive rebounds. Steinbach will be in Charlotte’s big man rotation right away and has incredible potential if he ends up starting.

Steinbach came off the bench, but it was notable that he entered the game early in the first quarter for starter Ryan Kalkbrenner. Steinbach had the hot hand as he outscored Kalkbrenner 19-2 and played 28 minutes to Kalkbrenner’s 19. We could be seeing the beginning of Steinbach moving up in the Hornets’ big man rotation, though it’s also worth noting that Moussa Diabate didn’t play due to a right elbow injury.
  • CHA Forward-Center
It wasn’t a flawless debut for Steinbach, but he showcased why he is such a good prospect for fantasy basketball. He’s a double-double machine, and even if he isn’t the best defender, he has a knack for racking up defensive stats. He’ll compete for minutes down low during his rookie season, and there is a path for him to get the starting job and become a fantasy monster in year one.
  • CHA Forward-Center
The 6-foot-10 Steinbach needed just one season to show that he was worthy of being a first-round pick, thanks largely to his hands and rebounding ability. As a freshman at Washington, the German forward/center averaged 18.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks, shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 75.9 percent from the foul line. Steinbach did show some signs of potentially being able to expand his offensive game, but the rebounding and touch around the basket are where he’ll stand out early on in his career. While Moussa Diabaté emerged as a reliable contributor and Ryan Kalkbrenner provided depth as a rookie, the Hornets still needed to improve their options in the post. Adding Steinbach accomplishes that goal, and his ability as a rebounder and defender opens the door for him to earn rotation minutes as a rookie.

Adou Thiero (knee) is out against the Warriors on Wednesday.

Knee issues continue to plague Thiero despite making some starts during the preseason. He won’t be available for the season opener, which should mean more minutes for Ziaire Williams and Matisse Thybulle on the wing.

Collin Sexton (leg) is questionable to play against the Warriors on Wednesday.

Sexton has been sidelined throughout the preseason with a leg injury, but there is a chance he returns to take on Golden State. Considering he has been sidelined for a while, his role may be limited for his first game, but he will eventually play a significant reserve role for the Lakers. Bronny James may be part of the rotation if Sexton is out.

Charles Bassey (knee) is questionable to play against the Lakers on Wednesday.

Bassey showed some juice during the preseason and may be part of the rotation as a depth big man when he’s healthy. If he’s not available for this game, Al Horford will likely take on a few extra minutes, with Draymond Green spending most of his time at center.

Chris Youngblood (ankle) has been ruled out against the Suns on Wednedsay.

Youngblood won’t be a rotation piece for Portland when he is healthy, so his absence won’t open the door for anyone to step up.

Branden Carlson (concussion) has been ruled out against the Suns on Wednesday.

Carlson will be unavailable for the season opener, but Portland has plenty of depth down low. He may not have seen the floor even if he was healthy.

Brandin Podziemski (back) has been ruled out against the Lakers on Wednesday.

Podz missed practice on Monday and will now be unavailable for the season opener. There are high expectations for the type of impact he’ll make this season, so they’ll certainly miss him. De’Anthony Melton will likely replace him in the starting unit.

Stephen Curry (ankle) is listed as probable to play against the Lakers on Wednesday.

Previous reports indicated Curry is expected to be available against Los Angeles, so his probable tag lines up perfectly. He should suit up in his usual starting spot and light it up in the season opener.

Micah Potter (illness) is questionable to play against the Suns on Wednesday.

Potter is a depth center for Portland. If he’s unavailable, Yang Hansen will be the clear third center option behind Donovan Clingan and Robert Williams III, though the latter two will split most of the center minutes.

Malik Monk (ankle) is questionable to play against the Clippers on Wednesday.

Monk is managing a left ankle injury, but if he suits up, he should see plenty of time as the backup point guard. If he isn’t able to suit up, rookie Emanuel Sharp could end up taking on a larger role off the bench, though he won’t be worth streaming in.

Deni Avdija (ankle) is questionable to play against the Suns on Wednesday.

Avdija looked good during the preseason, but there is a chance he is sidelined for Portland’s regular season opener. Portland’s thin on the wing, with Vít Krejčí next in line on the depth chart. It’s possible the Trail Blazers use three guards in the starting unit instead of starting Krejčí, which would likely mean Damian Lillard, Ja Morant and Jrue Holiday all start.
