Kevin Durant finished Monday’s 97-87 loss to the Nuggets with 24 points (10-of-27 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), eight rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks, and two 3-pointers in 44 minutes.
Durant recorded a full stat line in Phoenix’s Game 2 defeat, but the efficiency wasn’t where either he or the Suns wanted it. KD needed 27 shots from the field to score 25 of his 27 points, and he was just 2-of-12 from beyond the arc. Phoenix increased its 3-point attempts, putting up 31 after attempting 23 in Game 1. However, they made just six, one less than their total in Game 1 (seven). Durant had a lot to do with that, and Chris Paul’s third-quarter exit with tightness in his left groin didn’t help, either. Durant has played the second-most minutes in these playoffs, trailing teammate Devin Booker, so the three days off come at a great time for him. Phoenix will host Game 3 on Friday.
