According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Thunder have waived Rudy Gay.

The development is no surprise, as Gay’s career calendar doesn’t line up with that of most Thunder players. Also, the team has 19 players on guaranteed contracts for next season, and NBA teams are only allowed 15. While a solid veteran presence, Gay didn’t offer much production with the Jazz last season. He may be able to catch on with another team for the veteran’s minimum, but this would not impact fantasy basketball.

    Thunder waived Otega Oweh.

Oweh was selected by Oklahoma City in the second round, but he was ruled out for the entirety of this season with a torn Achilles earlier this month. They’ve elected to open up a roster spot for Micah Peavy, who they signed to a two-way contract on Friday.
HLs: Tatum leads Celtics past resilient Knicks
The New York Knicks closed the gap against Boston in the second half, but a clutch performance down the stretch by Jayson Tatum and a 36-point day staved off the defending champs for the Celtics' first win of the year.

Ausar Thompson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the 76ers.

Thompson rolled his ankle, left the game and didn’t return in Friday’s win over the Heat. It’s encouraging that he’s listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the 76ers rather than being ruled out in advance. Still, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Pistons exercise some caution and give Thompson more time off. In that case, Ron Holland II could see more playing time off the bench, though he’s not worth the risk to stream in fantasy leagues.

Oso Ighodaro (oblique) has been ruled out against the Warriors on Saturday.

Ighodaro exited early from Wednesday’s game against Portland and was initially listed as doubtful for this one. Duop Reath should fill out the backup center minutes behind Khaman Maluach.

Al Horford (back) is out for Saturday’s game against the Suns.

Horford is out with back injury management. Purely a depth piece at this stage of his career, Horford isn’t likely to play enough minutes to be fantasy-relevant even when he’s healthy.

Jalen Duren (hamstring) has been ruled out against the 76ers on Sunday.

Duren exited early from Friday’s win over the Heat, and that injury will keep him out against Philadelphia. Paul Reed should get the starting nod in his place after contributing 19 points and 11 rebounds in 26 minutes against Miami. He should be considered high-priority streaming option until Duren returns.

Charles Bassey (knee) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Suns.

Bassey’s patellar tendinitis in his right knee kept him sidelined for the first two games of the season. With Draymond Green (back) doubtful, the Warriors could use Bassey back at the center position if he’s available Saturday.

Draymond Green (back) is doubtful for Saturday’s game against the Suns.

Green has been playing center with Charles Bassey (knee) also dealing with an injury. Now the 36-year-old Green is doubtful for Saturday’s game against the Suns, adding to a lengthy injury report for the Warriors.

Stephen Curry (knee) is out for Saturday’s game against the Suns.

No surprise here as Curry said after Friday’s loss to the Grizzlies that he probably wouldn’t play against the Suns Saturday. With Brandin Podziemski also out, De’Anthony Melton and Will Richard could start and see significant minutes.

Marcus Smart (forearm) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Hawks.

Smart was downgraded to questionable with a forearm injury Saturday afternoon. With Fred VanVleet (knee) already ruled out, it was assumed Smart would likely start against the Hawks. With him popping up on an injury report that also includes Reed Sheppard (knee), the Rockets’ backcourt depth could be tested here.

Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype reports Jeremy Sochan will be the first pick of the G League Draft.

Sochan will report to the Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks’ G League affiliate. Still just 23, Sochan has spent four years in the NBA with the Spurs and Knicks.
