Chase DeLauter hit two homers in his first career regular-season game to power the Guardians past the Mariners 6-4 on Thursday.

DeLauter, who got into two postseason games last October, got the Guardians on the board with a 353-foot homer in the first and then added some insurance with a one-run lead with a 422-foot blast in the ninth. He also had a single and another run scored in between. DeLauter’s struggles staying healthy as a minor leaguer don’t bode well, but there’s no questioning the former first-rounder’s talent. He’d seem to be worth using in mixed leagues for now.
Dominic Canzone

Dominic Canzone connected on a pair of solo homers Thursday against the Mariners.

Canzone’s homers checked in at 444 and 418 feet. Even his two outs tonight left the bat at 100.5 and 102.1 mph. Canzone’s .300/.358/.481 line in 82 games last year was incredibly impressive for a T-Mobile hitter. He plays in the worst ballpark in the league for hitters, he doesn’t start against lefties and he has no steal ability, but he might just possess some fantasy value anyway.
Tanner Bibee

CLE Starting Pitcher #28

Tanner Bibee left his start Thursday due to right shoulder inflammation.

That’s no good. Bibee was removed while warming up for the sixth inning tonight. After the game, he said the injury was a new one, and he got to the point where he felt like he “couldn’t battle through it.” Given his comments, even if the injury proves to be relatively minor, we imagine he’ll spend some time on the IL. Logan Allen is the obvious choice to replace him in the Cleveland rotation, though the Guardians could recall Codi Heuer until a start is needed against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Pavin Smith

AZ 1st Baseman #26

Pavin Smith said he’ll probably have an MRI on Friday after being scratched with elbow soreness Thursday.

Smith’s injury really came out of nowhere, and it’s particularly unfortunate timing for Arizona with Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Tyler Locklear and Adrian Del Castillo all on the IL. That left Tim Tawa to serve as the DH in Thursday’s game. Ideally, the Diamondbacks would replace Smith with a left-handed bat if he’s forced to the IL, but they don’t have any decent alternatives in the minors. Their best internal option is probably to add righty Luken Baker and shift Locklear to the 60-day IL.
Andy Pages

LAD Center Fielder #44

Andy Pages went 2-for-4 and blasted a go-ahead three-run homer on Thursday night, helping to lead the Dodgers past the Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers entered the home half of the fifth inning facing a two-run deficit until Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernandez set the table with a couple of singles. Pages then followed with a mammoth 400-foot (100.6 mph EV) three-run shot that changed the entire complexion of the game and put the Dodgers ahead to stay. He also singled in the eighth inning. Pages appears to be back in the Dodgers’ good graces after being benched down the stretch of their run to the World Series.
Cristopher Sánchez

PHI Starting Pitcher #61

Cristopher Sánchez limited the Rangers to three hits and fanned 10 in six shutout innings in the Phillies’ 5-3 victory Thursday.

Eight of the 11 balls in play against Sánchez today were hit hard, but only three turned into hits, with Andrew McCutchen’s 398-foot double being the lone extra-base hit. Sánchez can afford to give up the hard contact because so much of it is on the ground and because he hardly walks anyone. He issued no free passes today, Last year, he walked one or none in 19 of his 32 starts. Sánchez will face the Nationals next week.
JJ Wetherholt

STL Shortstop #26

JJ Wetherholt homered and drove in a pair of runs in his MLB debut on Thursday, helping to lead the Cardinals to a come-from-behind 9-7 victory over the Rays.

The 23-year-old rookie shortstop opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 425-foot (101.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Rays’ ace Drew Rasmussen. He then added a sacrifice fly during the Cardinals’ eight-run outburst in the sixth inning. He possesses a dynamic blend of power and speed and should be an impact contributor for fantasy purposes while hitting atop the Cardinals’ lineup.
Garrett Crochet

BOS Starting Pitcher #35

Garrett Crochet pitched three-hit ball for six innings and notched eight strikeouts as the Red Sox shut out the Reds 3-0 on Thursday.

Crochet got into trouble in a still scoreless game in the sixth, when Matt McLain walked and Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart both singled with one out, but he rebounded to fan both Eugenio Suárez and Spencer Steer to end his afternoon. Dating back to last September, Crochet has won five straight starts, pitching scoreless ball in three of those. He’ll face the Astros next.
Mike Trout

LAA Right Fielder #27

Mike Trout homered, stole a base and drew three walks on Thursday afternoon, leading the Angels to a 3-0 victory over the Astros on Opening Day in Houston.

The 34-year-old outfielder turned back the clock in this one. He drew a one-out walk in the opening inning and deftly swiped second base, but the Halos were unable to cash him in. Trout then clubbed a 403-foot (108.5 mph EV) solo shot off of AJ Blubaugh in the seventh inning that gave the Angels a 1-0 lead they would never relinquish. There’s no denying that Trout can be a viable fantasy asset if he’s able to stay healthy, he just hasn’t been able to stay off the injured list in recent years.
Kevin McGonigle

DET Shortstop #7

Kevin McGonigle impressed in his Major League debut on Thursday, going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and two RBI as the Tigers triumphed over the Padres 8-2 in San Diego.

The 21-year-old phenom came to the dish with the bases loaded in the opening inning and laced the first pitch that he saw from Nick Pivetta for a two-run single into right field that increased the Tigers’ early lead to 3-0. In the third inning, he worked his way back from an 0-2 count before crushing a 2-2 fastball (105.9 mph EV) off the top of the wall in right field for another double. He also reached on an infield single in the fifth — exhibiting elite speed with a sprint speed of 30.2 ft/s — before riding home on Dillon Dingler’s two-run blast. If he keeps this up, he won’t be hitting sixth in the Tigers’ lineup for very long.
