John Wall knew the spot on the floor he wanted to get to, and the Chicago Bulls couldn’t stop him. That’s what led to Wall’s first-ever game-winning shot as an NBA player as the Washington Wizards beat Chicago on Tuesday night, 101-99.
It started with the game tied with under a minute to go in the fourth quarter at 99. Wall hit an 18-foot jumper to draw even with 47 seconds left, then after a missed shot by Michael Carter-Williams, it was Washington’s turn to go for the win.
That’s when Wall came off a flat screen from Marcin Gortat on the right side of the floor, dribbled to the right wing, and pulled up over Robin Lopez:
