The New York Knicks cleared massive amounts of cap room in 2010 to pursue free agents like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
No wonder they had to settle for Amar’e Stoudemire.

He isn’t the most engaging, enchanting man, but Dolan does fancy himself a musician. So, yes, there were player and agent meetings four years ago when Dolan delivered a parting gift on the way out of the room.
“He passed out copies of his CD,” said a source, who stuffed his copy of one into a bag and no longer remembers where it’s gone.
Dolan infamously serves as front man for JD & The Straight Shot, a blues and rock band that gets on bigger stages due to his wealth. In 2011, The New York Times music critic Jon Pareles called Dolan“a karaoke-grade singer.”
Even if JD & The Straight Shot were excellent, I just can’t imagine many NBA players would go gaga over a band led by someone who’s obsessed with The Eagles. Sometimes, the best way to overcome the generation gap is just to avoid it. Instead, Dolan literally put it in the hands of players he was trying to woo.
To be fair to Dolan, he’s apparently learned. Riding ATVs in the desert, eating in a restaurant kitchen and attending 150-person parties where Chelsea Handler is one of two females present – not handing out CDs – that’s how to lure a catch like Phil Jackson.
