An NBA team losing a preseason game to an international team is a near-annual occurrence.
The Thunder suffered the indignity this year – and did it in dramatic fashion.
Up five with 4.1 seconds left, Oklahoma City fouled Real Madrid forward Andres Nocioni on a 3-pointer. Nocioni made the first two free throws and missed the second, and an offensive rebound got Sergio Llull a game-tying 3-pointer.
Real Madrid won, 142-137, in overtime.
Good news for the Thunder: This isn’t necessarily predictive of their season. The Nets lost to Fenerbahçe last preseason and went 21-61. The Spurs lost to Alba Berlin two preseasons ago and went 55-27.
