Cowboys defensive end Chauncey Golston is defecting to a rival.

According to NFL Network, Golston has agreed to terms with the Giants on a three-year, $19.5 million deal.

A third-round pick in 2021, Golston had a career-high 5.5 sacks last season.

Golston appeared in 17 games with 13 starts in 2024. He has 64 total regular-season appearances with 16 starts and 9.0 career sacks.

He played both defensive end and defensive tackle during his time with the Cowboys.

With Justin Fields agreeing to terms with the Jets and Sam Darnold poised to sign with the Seahawks, the Steelers don’t have many viable veteran quarterback options.

The Steelers began talking to quarterback Aaron Rodgers several days ago. With mounting indications that Fields would be leaving, the process accelerated.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Steelers and Rodgers could have an agreement in place as soon as Tuesday. He won’t be able to sign until Wednesday, when the Jets release him.

There’s still a chance the Giants could pilfer Rodgers. If they make him a much richer offer, he might jump on the chance to stay in New York.

One big factor comes from Rodgers’s desire to play two more years. If he picks the Giants, and if the Giants fail to make it to the playoffs in 2025, co-owner John Mara could clean house in 2026. A new G.M. and a new head coach could result in the same decision the other New York team made this year — a decision to move on from Rodgers.

In Pittsburgh, Rodgers is far more likely to get a second season. And he’s far more likely to return to the postseason for the first time since 2022.

The Giants are moving to upgrade their special teams units in free agency.

According to multiple reports, they have agreed to terms on a contract with linebacker Chris Board. It’s a two-year deal worth up to $6 million for the veteran.

Board comes to the Giants after spending the 2024 season in Baltimore. He played 80 percent of the team’s special teams snaps and made one defensive start while picking up 30 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.

The 2024 stint was Board’s second with the Ravens. He opened his time in the NFL by spending four seasons in Baltimore and then moved on to Detroit and New England in 2022 and 2023.

The Giants agreed to terms on a two-year deal with offensive tackle James Hudson III, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports.

He is expected to compete for the swing tackle job.

Hudson played only four games with three starts last season before undergoing surgery on his right shoulder. He started the first two games of the season at left tackle in place of Jedrick Wills Jr. and was playing right tackle in place of Dawand Jones against the Giants when he initially injured his shoulder.

He started a Week 4 game against the Raiders at left tackle but did not play again.

Hudson, a fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2021, has appeared in 49 games with 17 starts in his career.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton said last week that expected to get a lot of interest in free agency, but no one was able to come up with an offer that took him away from the Giants.

Multiple reports on Monday say that Slayton has agreed to a new deal with the NFC East team. It’s a three-year, $36 million deal for the 2019 fifth-round pick.

Slayton led the Giants in receiving yards in four of his first five seasons with the team, but slipped into a less prominent role after the arrival of Malik Nabers in 2024. He had 39 catches for 573 yards and two touchdowns.

Monday’s deal means he will remain in that role, although he and Nabers are both still waiting to find out who will be throwing them passes come the fall.
