“In past years, you’d often see Montgomery get the first bulk of carries before Gibbs takes the field. There was a clear pecking order in practice, and that often translated to games,” Pouncy continued. A shift where Gibbs takes on more of the early-down workload from David Montgomery would qualify as a fantasy earthquake, something that could push Gibbs ahead of Bijan Robinson and Saquon Barkley in the No. 1 overall running back conversation, while also pushing Montgomery down the board quite a bit. Pouncy also notes that “perhaps the staff is recognizing [Gibbs] is too talented for a true 50-50 split.” We aren’t sure quite how much stock to put into this, but it’s certainly a noteworthy report from Lions camp.

The “sense within the organization” per Art Stapleton is that Nabers was held out for the rest of the session as a precautionary measure.

The mega-deal catapults Raimann into the top seven in highest total value contracts amongst active offensive linemen, with the team locking him up through the 2029 season. Raimann received Pro Football Focus’ eighth highest overall grade during the 2024 season, highlighted by one of the top pass blocking grades in the league after allowing just 20 total pressures on 471 pass blocking snaps. The deal includes $60 million in guaranteed money, a staggering mark that stands as the second most in the league.

The Cowboys breathe a collective sigh of relief after initial testing revealed a possible torn ACL. Guyton emerged for follow-on testing with an intact ACL and a bone fracture that will not require surgery, meaning he is likely to only miss a game or two of the regular season. Guyton is expected to step into a featured role on quarterback Dak Prescott’s blindside in 2025.

Shortly after it was reported that a deal was nearing between Sutton and the Broncos, news broke of an official deal. The soon-to-be 30-year-old receiver will now be under contract with the Broncos through the 2029 season, giving him a chance to potentially retire with the team that selected him in the second round back in 2018. After battling through injuries and poor quarterback play for most of his career, Sutton turned in his best season as a pro in 2024, catching 81 passes for 1,081 yards and eight touchdowns. Sutton profiles as a fringe WR2/WR3 after finishing as a top-24 PPR receiver in 41 percent of his games last season.

Schefter also added that he thinks McLaurin is interested in earning more than DK Metcalf, who is set to earn about $33 million AAV on the new contract he signed with the Steelers. McLaurin reported to Commanders camp over the weekend and is effectively staging a hold-in that is being reported as an ankle injury. The distance between McLaurin and the Commanders in negotiations could be bridged in the coming days after reports surfaced that the Broncos are nearing an extension with Courtland Sutton, who had similar numbers to McLaurin last season and will also be turning 30 shortly after the start of the season. Schefter said he does not believe the Commanders have any interest in trading McLaurin but added, “We’ll see if anything changes over time.” While there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight to this negotiation, it would not be surprising if Sutton’s new deal moves things closer to the finish line for McLaurin and the Commanders.
