Walter Tavares blocked four shots in 26 minutes of action during Sunday’s summer league win over the Wizards, adding 10 points, five boards, one assist and one turnover.
Tavares looked like a man amongst boys out there, controlling the paint with his size and superb shot blocking ability. Tavares was taken with the No. 43 overall selection in the 2014 draft and labeled a project, but perhaps he’s finally ready to see consistent minutes as a primary reserve in Atlanta. That being said, he won’t have any standard league value while Dwight Howard and Tiago Splitter (hip surgery) are healthy.

Alperen Şengün amassed 13 points (5-of-15 FGs, 2-of-7 FTs), eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals, two blocks and one three-pointer in Thursday’s loss to the 76ers.
Porter Jr.'s injury-plagued season halted again
Eric Samulski examines Kevin Porter Jr.'s latest injury that will keep him out indefinitely and who may step up on the Bucks in his absence.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson accumulated 17 points (7-of-11 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), six rebounds, nine assists and three steals in Thursday’s loss to the 76ers.
  • HOU Forward #7
Kevin Durant accounted for 36 points (13-of-21 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and five three-pointers in Thursday’s loss to the 76ers.
  • PHI Forward #8
Paul George (knee) finished Thursday’s win over the Rockets with 10 points (4-of-9 FGs), seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and two three-pointers.
  • PHI Guard #0
Tyrese Maxey tallied 36 points (15-of-28 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), two rebounds, 10 assists, four steals and two three-pointers in Thursday’s win over the Rockets.
  • PHI Forward-Guard #9
Kelly Oubre Jr. amassed 26 points (10-of-14 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), four rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and four three-pointers in Thursday’s win over the Rockets.
  • PHI Center-Forward #21
Joel Embiid finished Thursday’s win over the Rockets with 32 points (10-of-19 FGs, 11-of-12 FTs), 15 rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, two blocks and one three-pointer.
  • ORL Forward #5
Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 23 points (6-of-12 FGs, 9-of-12 FTs), seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and two three-pointers in a 124-97 loss to the Hornets on Thursday.
After an inefficient shooting outing on Sunday, Banchero was able to have a better night against Charlotte. Unfortunately, that didn’t change the result, and Orlando ended up on the wrong end of another lopsided game. Efficiency has never been a strong suit for Banchero, and that has been the case again this season. However, he is averaging career highs in rebounds and assists, which has made up for a drop in scoring. Next up is a home game against the Cavaliers on Saturday.
  • LAC Forward #2
James Harden, Kris Dunn, Kawhi Leonard, John Collins and Ivica Zubac will start Thursday’s game against the Lakers.
After a three-game absence, Leonard is available and back in the starting lineup. His return means that Kobe Sanders will head back to the bench, where he offers minimal fantasy value in redraft leagues. That’s the lone change to the starting lineup.
  • ORL Forward-Center #21
Moritz Wagner provided a boost off the bench with 14 points (5-of-7 FGs), one rebound, one assist, two steals and two three-pointers on Thursday against the Hornets.
Wagner made his season debut less than two weeks ago, so this was his highest scoring performance since 2024. He was an excellent reserve scoring option for the Magic to start last year before tearing his ACL. This was a new season high for him in just 15 minutes. He’ll continue to be a reliable scoring option off the bench, but with Wendell Carter Jr. and Goga Bitadze both healthy, he won’t play enough minutes to provide value in standard leagues.
