Nate Hinton accounted for 18 points (7-of-13 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), 10 rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes in Monday’s 99-78 loss to the Cavaliers.

Hinton and the Rockets fell one win shy of an NBA2K24 Summer League title, but he capped his time in Las Vegas with another quality performance. Hinton consistently brought the energy on both ends of the floor in the Rockets’ six games, a must for a player looking to earn either a contract or a training camp invitation. Given his lack of a contract, Hinton can’t be relied on in fantasy leagues. But he should be able to parlay his time in Las Vegas into an opportunity to compete for a roster spot in the fall.

ESPN’s Shams Charania believes the Heat aren’t expected to keep Norman Powell this offseason.

Appearing on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show, Charania said the Heat aren’t expecting Powell to be back with the team next season. This comes on the heels of ESPN’s Brian Windhorst echoing the same sentiments on another show Tuesday morning. While Powell’s shooting is exactly what the Heat need, he’s going to have multiple suitors in free agency, which will make him very difficult for Miami to keep from a financial perspective, according to Charania. Marc Stein and Jake Fischer previously reported the Pistons have added Powell to their list of targets.
Is Brown's best option to stick it out with BOS?
Dan Le Batard, Dominique Foxworth and NBA analyst Amin Elhassan discuss Jaylen Brown's future with the Celtics after a rumored trade to the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo fell through.

Trail Blazers hired Micah Nori as head coach.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. Nori, 52, has been an NBA assistant coach since 2009 and most recently has been the lead assistant for Chris Finch and the Timberwolves since 2021. He and Finch were assistants together under Mike Malone in Denver, helping build an offense around Nikola Jokic that eventually led to a championship. Nori will be the 17th head coach in Trail Blazers franchise history. Portland was 42-40 last season and lost to the Spurs in five games in the first round of the playoffs.

NBA Insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer report the Pistons have added Norman Powell to their list of offseason targets.

The Pistons have been linked to nearly every available shooter this offseason. Prior to the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, it was believed that Powell would re-sign with the Heat. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported Tuesday morning that Powell isn’t going to re-sign with Miami barring a “crazy discount.” With Powell seemingly available now, it’s no surprise that Detroit will at least kick the tires on the 33-year-old All-Star. The Pistons will continue to look to add shooting and playmaking around its core this offseason and Powell could factor into those plans. Stein and Fischer report Detroit is also interested in Tyler Herro, Coby White and Isaiah Joe.

ESPN’s Marc Spears reports the Pelicans are trying to trade Trey Murphy.

It’s unclear which teams might be interested in trading for Murphy, who turned 26 earlier this month. The Celtics could make sense as a suitor given that the team is going to listen to offers for Jaylen Brown. However, with reports of the Pelicans targeting someone in the lottery of Tuesday’s NBA Draft, New Orleans could move Murphy or Herb Jones in a trade for a draft pick tonight. The Hawks, who have the eighth pick, and Warriors, who have the 11th pick, could be potential suitors for a Murphy trade.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes Anthony Edwards could be the next superstar who’s available in the trade market.

Windhorst, appearing on the Hoop Collective podcast, wondered aloud about what Edwards might be thinking in the aftermath of Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded to the Heat as well as the Timberwolves trading Julius Randle in a salary dump. Windhorst said Edwards has been frustrated with how he’s double teamed by opponents since Minnesota trade Karl Anthony-Towns two years ago. The Timberwolves have to add more offense this offseason to alleviate some of that burden on Edwards. While no trade is imminent, don’t expect Edwards to have a shortage of suitors if he eventually requests a trade.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Celtics were unwilling to include Hugo González or Baylor Scheierman in their offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up on Tuesday morning, Charania reported that the Celtics were unwilling to include young players like Hugo González and Baylor Scheierman or add additional draft picks or pick swaps in their offer to the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo. While there was some speculation before the trade that González could be considered untouchable given the Celtics’ internal opinion of him, Charania said Boston simply believed their offer of Jaylen Brown and two unprotected first-round picks to be an aggressive offer. Apparently it wasn’t aggressive enough for the Bucks, who chose to accept Heat’s offer, which included more young players and draft picks.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes the Heat will lose Norman Powell in free agency.

Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up on Tuesday morning, Windhorst expressed concern that the Heat will be able to surround Giannis Antetokounmpo with enough shooting this upcoming season. His primary reason for concern is that he believes the Heat will lose Powell in free agency barring the 33-year-old All-Star taking a “crazy discount.” With Miami up against the cap and having already put so many assets in the Giannis trade, the Heat will have to make some moves on the cheap to fill out the roster. It appears Powell could be out of their price range.

The Athletic’s Sam Amick reports the Bucks pushed for Kasparas Jakučionis to be included in the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Amick, citing league sources, reports the Heat initially attempted to include Davion Mitchell in the trade rather than Jakučionis. With Mitchell on an expiring contract, the Bucks wanted a player with more time remaining on their rookie contract. It was a reasonable ask considering two of the other players the Bucks acquired (Tyler Herro and Jaimie Jaquez Jr.) are also on expiring deals. The Bucks held out and landed Jakučionis, who has three years left on his contract. He remains an intriguing dynasty asset on the rebuilding Bucks.

The Athletic’s Sam Amick reports Tyler Herro’s future remains unclear after he was acquired by the Bucks in the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Amick, citing league sources, reported that the Bucks will listen to offers on their newly acquired 26-year-old All-Star point guard. He went on to say that it’s believed that Herro will have a robust market with the Detroit Pistons among many interested teams. While the trade sending Herro to the Bucks has been agreed to, it won’t be finalized until July 6, which means there’s still time for more teams and players to be added to the deal. Finding Herro, whose contract is expiring, a new home makes sense as the Bucks head into a rebuild in the post-Giannis era.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes there will be a bidding war for Jaylen Brown in the aftermath of the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.

Windhorst, appearing on ESPN’s Get Up Tuesday morning, said that teams around the league have been preparing in recent days to pursue Brown in the event that the Celtics didn’t complete the trade for Antetokounmpo, who was dealt to the Heat. Now that this exact scenario has come to pass, Windhorst believes we’ll see Brown’s trade market continue to play out with a bidding war for his services. While Windhorst said he thinks it’ll take some time to trade Brown, he also mentioned that a deal involving draft picks could accelerate that timeline with the NBA Draft on Tuesday night. Brown was NBA Finals MVP in 2024 and named to the All-NBA second-team this past season.
