Joel Embiid is a character, and was a believer in former Philadelphia 76ers GM Sam Hinkie. Embiid has gone so far as to dub himself “The Process” after a colloquialism attributed to Hinkie’s asset-hoarding, game-losing approach.

Now, the Sixers have acquiesced to Embiid’s request for a new nickname.

During introductions against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night, Embiid was introduced as “Joel ‘The Process’ Embiid” by the arena announcer.

In an age of high stakes, large egos, and PR stringency, that the 76ers allowed this to even happen is a miracle. It’s also pretty dang awesome.

In The Process We Trust.
