With Fox injured, it’s time to add “Off Night”

Davion Mitchell

Davion Mitchell

Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

Davion Mitchell (8% rostered): De’Aaron Fox went down with a knee injury in Monday’s matchup with Charlotte and Mitchell started the second half. Nicknamed “Off Night” for his tough defense, Mitchell has also shown plenty of promise as a scorer and three-point shooter, and both of those skills were on full display Monday as he scored a season-best 23 points and knocked down a career-high five triples to go with four boards and three steals across 31 minutes. Fantasy managers able to snag Mitchell off waivers will likely experience a euphoria not dissimilar to a Halloween sugar rush. Grab another Twix bar and click that add button, partner!

KJ Martin (5%): Martin has played a key role for Houston this season, logging a career-high 25.4 minutes per game. He delivered his best game of the season Monday when he went off for 23 points, six rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocks.

Jock Landale (15%): The month of October may be over, but “Jocktober” is just getting started. With Deandre Ayton out of action, Landale registered 16 points, seven boards, a steal and a block across 23 minutes in Sunday’s win over Houston. Bismack Biyombo (37%) drew the start and played 22 minutes, going for five points, five boards and five swats. Though Landale played one more minute and had a better game statistically, both players are worth rostering and playing for at least the next week while Ayton is out.

Chris Boucher (29%): He led the bench with 21 minutes in Monday’s victory, posting 11 points, three rebounds, an assist, two steals and a swat. Since returning to the Raptors’ lineup, his minutes have gone from 12 to 17 to 22 to 21, and his role as a key option is slowly solidifying. Now is the time to add him.

Tyus Jones (42%): Jones filled in well for Ja Morant on Saturday, but he still logged 27 minutes Monday with Morant back in the lineup. The Grizz are dealing with multiple injuries, so Jones is worth adding, as he may continue to see useful minutes in the short term.

David Roddy (6%): He finished with two points, six boards, two steals and a block in Monday’s loss, and his 28 minutes were third to only Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks. Roddy has logged 55 minutes over the last two games, and he’s played at least 23 in four of eight games on the season. If you’re looking for the next Grizzlies’ sleeper, you can’t go wrong with Rowdy Roddy.

Xavier Tillman (1%): Steven Adams (jaw) and Brandon Clarke (hand) both got hurt in Monday’s loss to Utah, and if both are forced to miss time moving forward, Tillman would suddenly be in line for playing time. He’s more of a deep-league add for now and someone to keep tabs on in standard leagues.

Chris Duarte (17%): Duarte has played poorly this season, but he balled out in Monday’s loss, scoring 30 points and hitting five triples. As long as Aaron Nesmith is injured, Duarte could remain in the starting lineup, and fantasy managers can hope for some of last season’s spark.

De’Anthony Melton (63%): Melton started Monday in place of Joel Embiid, and he played well yet again, finishing the contest with 16 points, two boards, two steals and an assist. After a sluggish start to the season, Melton has suddenly become a fantasy darling yet again. Over his last four, he’s averaged 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.8 swipes, and our icy hearts are meltin’ after viewing those numbers. If he’s still available on your waiver wire, don’t miss out on him.

Eric Gordon (16%): The Rockets are committed to giving him big minutes every night, so if you’re in need of points, triples and steals, he’s worth a look.

Doug McDermott (6%): After Sunday’s 23-point, seven-triple performance, Dougie McBuckets has suddenly thrust himself back into our plans. Don’t get too excited about games like this becoming a regular occurrence, but hey, Coach Pop has got to play someone, right?

Jalen Williams (42%): He balled out in his return Saturday, going for 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, four steals and a block across 27 minutes. He’s been a popular add over the last two days, and this may be your last call to get him before Tuesday’s tilt with Orlando.
