Lindell Wigginton continuing career in China

Most of Milwaukee’s regular starters will get this preseason game off, with Brook Lopez the lone exception. Summer League standout Lindell Wigginton will get a chance to keep up his strong play at home after showing off his skills as a scorer back in July. It’s unclear if Malik Beasley will get a chance to start this season with the departures of Jrue Holiday and Grayson Allen, but he and Crowder should see plenty of minutes off the bench regardless. Bobby P should play a pivotal role off the bench as a high-level rebounder, as he has for each of the last two seasons.

Milwaukee doesn’t have much talent on their Summer League roster, but Wigginton has been their best player over their last two games. Still, he’ll likely spend most of his time in the G-League once again after suiting up the Wisconsin Herd for the majority of his first two seasons. He may be playing well, but he isn’t going to contribute in fantasy.

Even for a summer league game, this one was pretty strange for the Bucks. Only three players (MarJon Beauchamp, Chris Livingston and Andre Jackson Jr.) played more than 20 minutes. Beauchamp, who has been on fire this summer, was held scoreless on five shot attempts. Wigginton was the only player to score in double figures, and the team only managed to score 71 points. It’s unlikely that any of these players are part of Milwaukee’s rotation next season, but this game certainly doesn’t help anyone’s case.

With the top record in the league, Milwaukee didn’t play much of their typical rotation in this game. Leonard recorded his 14th career double-double, with the most recent one before this coming in February of 2020. MarJon Beauchamp scored 10 points in 30 minutes as a starter. Bobby Portis played 18 minutes and scored 16 points, while Jae Crowder put up 13/4/6/2 line in 25 minutes. Lindell Wigginton, Goran Dragic and Thanasis Antetokounmpo also scored in double figures off the bench. The Bucks will have to wait and see how the play-in plays out before knowing who they’ll face in the first round.

Milwaukee has locked up the best record in the league, so they played without the majority of their usual rotation in this game. That allowed Wigginton to start and play 41 minutes in this game. He set career-highs for points, assists and 3-pointers. Jae Crowder added 24 points as a starter, while Goran Dragic chipped in 14 off the bench, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo scored 12. Thanasis, Wigginton and MarJon Beauchamp all played over 38 minutes, and they should see similar roles on Sunday.

Green started Friday’s game but was only able to play 15 minutes before being sidelined for the rest of the night. His early exit means more minutes for Lindell Wigginton and Jevon Carter, who may also figure prominently in the Bucks’ rotation for Sunday’s regular-season finale.

Mamu is coming off of a 28-point game with a huge line last time out, and while it’s only July, he’s making a case for playing time in the NBA. That being said, the sad truth still remains: It would take an injury to Bobby Portis or Brook Lopez (or maybe both) for him to crack the rotation on a loaded Milwaukee squad, but his stat lines in Vegas and on a couple occasions in the NBA show what he’s capable of for fantasy purposes. There’s no reason to put him on your draft boards for the time being, but we’ll let you know if there’s any indication this offseason of him playing meaningful minutes come October -- just don’t count on it. No. 24 overall pick MarJon Beauchamp (15/6/2 with four triples), Rayjon Tucker (14/3/5/1/1), Lindell Wigginton (14 points, six dimes, four treys) and Zylan Cheatham (14/6/2/2/1) also reached double figures in the scoring column in Wednesday’s victory.

Wiggington is not on the fantasy radar so this should not affect anyone’s roster.

He missed Wednesday’s game as well and isn’t quite ready to suit up, but he’s a negligible player in fantasy ball.
