Jayson Tatum amassed 36 points (14-of-26 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), nine rebounds, seven assists, three steals and three three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Knicks.

After recording an inefficient double-double in Tuesday’s loss to the Pistons, Tatum was outstanding in Friday’s home opener. He hit multiple shots down the stretch to hold off the Knicks, and the Celtics star committed just two turnovers. Tatum also got to the foul line Friday, something he didn’t do against the Pistons. As the unquestioned top scoring option, Tatum will need to make use of the foul line consistently, as it would benefit him and the Celtics as a whole. Boston plays four games in Week 2, starting with a Monday/Tuesday back-to-back against the Bulls and Nets.

Davion Mitchell finished with 15 points (5-of-5 FGs), seven assists, one block and four three-pointers on Monday against the Lakers.

While Mitchell had a spectacular game, volume was an issue. He didn’t miss a shot from the floor, but he only took five shots. Mitchell has had an excellent start to the year, but his lack of shot attempts prevented him from having a better night. However, he continues to dish out the dimes at a high rate, which has been the driving factor behind his top-75 value to start this season.

Klay Thompson lit up the Lakers with 19 points (7-of-11 FGs), one rebound, one assist and four three-pointers on Monday.

Thompson has shrugged off a slow start to the season and is starting to figure things out. Over the last two games, he has averaged 22 points and 5.5 triples per game while shooting at least 60 percent from the floor. Thompson likely won’t stay this hot, but he’ll have his hot streaks throughout the year. He’ll look to keep it going against the Clippers on Wednesday.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Heat with 30 points (10-of-17 FGs, 10-of-15 FTs), 12 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, two blocks and seven turnovers in a 138-117 loss to the Lakers on Monday.

Giannis wasn’t able to match his production from Friday’s big win, but he was still able to score at least 30 points for the fourth time in seven games this year. Of course, free throws continue to be an issue, but Giannis is too good in other categories for it to matter much. Miami’s two-game winning streak is over, and they’ll need Giannis to continue to dominate to get back on track as their five-game west coast road trip continues on Wednesday.

Cameron Johnson finished with seven points (2-of-5 FGs), four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one three-pointer against the Trail Blazers on Monday.

Johnson checked out of this game with 1:08 remaining after appearing to tweak something in his left leg. Head coach David Adelman didn’t have an update after the game, so there isn’t any conclusion to draw at this point, other than Johnson could be hurt and miss time. If that happens, Trevon Brazile or Alpha Diallo will likely step into a starting role in place of Johnson.

Nikola Jokić posted a full line on Monday with 26 points (10-of-22 FGs), nine rebounds, eight assists, four steals, one block and two three-pointers against the Trail Blazers.

Jokić simply hasn’t been as effective this season. It’s early, and he’ll turn it around, but he just hasn’t been the same player. However, that isn’t true in fantasy basketball. He has made up for a dip in points, rebounds, assists and field goal percentage with a bump in steals, blocks and free throw percentage. Frankly, none of that is sustainable. All of it will likely regulate, with Jokić still ending up as one of the best players in fantasy basketball. Just be patient. He’ll look to stuff the stat sheet against the Raptors on Wednesday.

Lauri Markkanen had 22 points (8-of-16 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and four three-pointers against the Spurs on Monday.

Markkanen’s 22 points were a game-high, though the Jazz still lost by 22 to the Spurs. He bounced back nicely after scoring just 13 points on 14 attempts in Saturday’s loss to the Trail Blazers. Markkanen and the Jazz have three more games this week with their next matchup against the Pelicans on the road Wednesday.

Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 35 points (10-of-19 FGs, 11-of-11 FTs), five rebounds, six assists, one block and four three-pointers in a 118-110 loss to the Trail Blazers on Monday.

Murray has been on a tear since the season opener. He was held to just six points in that game but has averaged 31.6 points, 6.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 5.4 triples while shooting 52.1 percent from the floor and 52.9 percent from deep in their five games since. This was his third game with at least 35 points in that stretch, and while it wasn’t enough for them to win, he continues to be a fantasy star and will look to stay hot against the Raptors on Wednesday.

Jrue Holiday provided a boost off the bench with 17 points (7-of-11 FGs), eight rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, one block and three three-pointers against the Nuggets on Monday.

Holiday didn’t step into the starting unit when Ja Morant (hamstring) went down, but he did step up off the bench in this game. He fell shy of the triple-double, but he did set season highs for both rebounds and assists in the win. Portland is now 5-1 this season, and Holiday has been a big part of their early success. He should continue to see a boost in production off the bench until Morant returns.

Donovan Clingan recorded a double-double on Monday with 17 points (8-of-16 FGs), 18 rebounds, three assists, four blocks and one three-pointer in a 118-110 win over the Nuggets.

After having his worst performance of the season in Utah on Saturday, Clingan responded with a monster outing. He set season highs for both points and rebounds in what ended up being his first double-double of the season. It has been a disappointing start to the year for Clingan, mostly because his minutes have been down. He surpassed 30 minutes for the first time this season and immediately dominated. Hopefully that’s a trend that continues, though that may require specific matchups. Their next game against the Suns on Wednesday probably isn’t the ideal scenario for Clingan to play a ton.

Deni Avdija led the Trail Blazers with 28 points (10-of-22 FGs, 6-of-9 FTs), three rebounds, five assists and two three-pointers against the Nuggets on Monday.

Avdija stayed hot in this one, and he has now scored at least 20 points in five straight games after being held to 18 points in the season opener. Most of his numbers this season are similar to last year, though his assists are slightly down. The main drop off has been his free throw percentage. After shooting 80.2 percent last year, he’s at 66.7 percent so far this season. If that improves, his overall fantasy value should jump back up.
