Dwyane Wade, who is suspended for Friday’s game against Detroit, denies that he intentionally kicked Ramon Sessions in the groin.
The Heat also defended Wade, calling him “the type of player, along with other players on our roster, that defenses take privileges with.” For what it’s worth, we certainly thought the kick looked deliberate and in the end, a one-game ban isn’t that big of a deal. Look for Shane Battier to have a bigger role with Wade out against the Pistons. Mario Chalmers could also see a one-game boost.

Luka Dončić led the Lakers with 37 points (13-of-21 FGs), 11 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals, six three-pointers and five turnovers in a 142-111 win over the Wizards on Friday.
Dončić got off to an unreal start to this game, and he ended up entering halftime with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. This was the second time in Dončić’s career that he recorded a triple-double in a single half, joining Nikola Jokic and Russell Westbrook as the only players to do it multiple times in the play-by-play era, per Stathead. He has been fantastic all season, and this performance was one of his best. He’ll look to keep it going in New York on Sunday to wrap up the week.
Hartenstein makes OKC 'competent' rebounding team
Noah Rubin unpacks Isaiah Hartenstein's return from injury for the Thunder against the Timberwolves, detailing how he can improve the team's performance in rebounds.
  • LAL Center #5
Deandre Ayton posted a full line on Friday with 28 points (12-of-14 FGs), 13 rebounds, three assists, one steal and three blocks against the Wizards.
It has been a rough stretch for Ayton recently, but the Wizards didn’t have an answer for him in this game. This was Domin-Ayton at his finest. Across his five games prior to this game, he had scored a total of 33 points. He fell one point shy of matching his season high for scoring, though that hasn’t been typical for him. Ayton’s role has been inconsistent, which has contributed to his production following the same trend. He’ll look to stay hot in New York on Sunday.
  • WAS Guard #7
Bub Carrington started on Friday and contributed 15 points (5-of-11 FGs), three rebounds, six assists, two steals, four three-pointers and five turnovers against the Lakers.
With Tre Johnson (ankle) sidelined for this game, Carrington returned to the starting unit. He was able to remain productive despite some inefficiencies. This was the eighth straight game that he has hit multiple three-pointers, and he has remained a solid source of assists during this stretch. If Johnson remains out against the Kings on Sunday, Carrington should remain productive as a starter once again.
  • DET Guard #2
Cade Cunningham (hip) is available for Friday’s game against the Warriors.
Cunningham was initially listed as probable with a hip injury, so his availability isn’t a surprise. The 24-year-old point guard had 26 points in Thursday’s loss to the Suns. After dealing with an injury wrist that impacted his scoring, he’s had at least 20 points in three consecutive games. Cunningham and the Pistons finish up a road trip in Golden State Friday.
  • WAS Forward #27
Will Riley provided a boost off the bench with 13 points (5-of-15 FGs), two rebounds, five assists, four steals and three three-pointers against the Lakers on Friday.
Not much went right for Washington in this game, but Riley was able to have a productive outing. The rookie set new career highs for assists and steals while also matching his career high for triples. He wasn’t efficient, but the 19-year-old has loads of potential, even though he still has a lot of growing to do. Dynasty managers will keep Riley stashed, and he could have a few strong weeks during silly season later this season.
  • WAS Forward #8
Malaki Branham led the Wizards with 17 points (6-of-9 FGs), one rebound and four three-pointers on Friday against the Lakers.
Most of Branham’s points came during garbage time, but he was able to lead Washington in scoring in this game. As has been the case for the entirety of his career, he has the ability to be an electric scorer, but he wasn’t able to contribute much else statistically. The 17 points were a new season high, which was great to see, but he should be left on the waiver wire.
  • UTA Forward #5
Cody Williams (illness) will play against the Nets on Friday.
Williams missed Wednesday’s game against Golden State, which allowed Svi Mykhailiuk to slide into the starting lineup in his place. With Williams back, Mykhailiuk should return to playing a role off the bench, which will eliminate the little streaming value he held.
  • CLE Guard #9
Craig Porter Jr. (knee) is out for Friday’s game against the Suns.
Porter was initially listed as questionable with a knee injury, but has since been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Suns. With Darius Garland (toe) also out, Porter’s absence impacts the Cavaliers’ depth, though it doesn’t impact fantasy basketball. Lonzo Ball could see more minutes and usage, but isn’t worth rostering in most fantasy leagues.
  • Jonas Valančiūnas (calf) is available for Friday’s game against the Clippers.
Valančiūnas was initially listed as probable with a calf injury, so his availability isn’t a surprise. With Nikola Jokic (knee) returning from injury, though, Valančiūnas will head back to the bench and lose most of his fantasy value.
  • DEN Guard #27
Jamal Murray (hamstring, hip) is available to play against the Clippers on Friday.
Murray was initially listed as probable, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he’ll suit up. He had 27 points against Brooklyn on Thursday and will look to stay hot against LA in this game.
