Aaron Gordon accumulated 16 points (5-of-8 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), one rebound, one assist, two steals, one block, and one 3-pointer in 38 minutes in Monday’s 97-87 win over Phoenix.
The Nuggets now hold a 2-0 series lead after holding serve at home. Gordon’s full stat line was modest with regard to the numbers, but his value as a defender cannot be overlooked. Kevin Durant shot 10-of-27 from the field, with AG serving as the primary defender for most of the night. Also, Denver has been able to use Gordon at the five when Nikola Jokic needs a break, with Jeff Green (2/4/1/0/2) slotting in at power forward, with there being little drop-off. Gordon and the Nuggets will look to extend their series lead in Game 3 Friday night.
